Soundblaster Xtreme Music EAX crackling sound

I got and installed an xtreme music soundcard. When I run PR with Audio on Hardware High and EAX enabled I seem to get an unregular crackling sound, not very loud, but annoying. I Downloaded and installed alchemy, which did not autodect BF 2. So I manually entered the path to BF 2 and also the path to where the PR.Exe is, just to be sure.

Any Idea what the crackling sound is about and how to get rid of it?
