Silent eagle
Its about the german airfield on silent eagle.
yesterday I practised about 2 hours on my own server trying to land a freaking jet on silent eagle. but its almost impossible.
as soon as you touch down the plane blows up. its like the weels on the plane is not going down.
this means german team is losing tickets because of that airstrip that almost no one manage to land on.
and its an abandoned airfield. that means it WAS used and then it should have a proper airstrip aswell.

The Eurofighter is super easy to land on the german airfield.
The Tornado is possible, but very difficult.

You generally need to be below 1000 on teh speed indicator when your wheels touchdown (aroudn 900 or less for best) but funnily enough if your on the wrong angle when you touchdown it can also cause you to go boom. As id had a couple of times where i was around 800-900 and slightly had hte nose up a tad more then normal and it just went boom.ExeTick wrote:I never managed to do it once..
However i noticed on qinling the tornado likes to take damage on the runway (cant remember if it was only when touching down above 1000 or at any speed) so i would suspect the rough shape makes the tornado tricker to land on silent eagle but still leaves it to be a likely problem with the jet itself.
Is there a suspension value? If so check that maybe the wheels are compressing enough to hit the oleos and the act of them draggin into the ground causes a boom?
TLDR; Touchdown below a speed of 1000 and you live

I know how to land jets. the only map I dont manage to land is on german side on silent eagle.
its easy on every map except for silent eagle.

Every map needs black gokd runways, but the germans "difficulty in landing" is the least of the air problems in silent eagle, 1 mig vs 1 euro + tornado is horrible.

Note that the Tornado's landing gear also come out more slowly than the other jets; you'll need to wait a little longer before touching down on the runway. I'll take a look at the gear for the next version.

set your move mark on the runway
go way out of bounds south west
turn around, and line your nose up with the chevron on your compass
cruise in around 800-900 km/h, 100 or so meters up
once inbound lower alt, keep speed to just above the treeline
once you see the runway make sure your aligned perfectly with a runway or taxiway if need be
nose down ever so gently right as your pass the last tree and touch down
the trick is if your compass is perfectly aligned, your plane is too and it becomes easy

40mmrain thats what Im doing. but my jet is still getting destroyed. I can manage to land all other maps with jets but not silent eagle.
I can land on the russian base with no problem. but the german runway is just horrible. I die everytime.

The whole game is about not getting seen, the point I was trying to make is that even a 1 vs 1 fight, the german planes will usually come ontop.saXoni wrote:It's all about not getting seen, except from when you're giving CAS.

IRL there's no way anyone would fly fast jets from a runway like that. Yes I know about harriers on dispersals....
Be nice if when airfield is capped runway becomes usable with trees and undergrowth removed.

Just been trying to land the Tornado on Silent Eagle and it's actually not hard after all. You just need to come in low and give time for the landing gear to come down before touching down and the Tornado slows down faster than any other jet and comes to a stop at the end of the runway.

You don't really need to go out of bounds. If you set up your own server, and get in one of the planes, you can fly around, and try to find the route. Fly down to the VCP, then take a left hand turn, follow the edge of the map 500* meters, and turn in towards the runway. You should be perfectly lined up.

I tried everything on that runway. but the plane blow up everytime.
I tried to come in from both sides I tried both the big runways.
I tried the small ones. and its the same everytime. I blow up.
I come in good enough to survive on a normal runway but not on silent eagle.

My non flying feedback:
So many times when playing Silent Eagle it really drags on to become very dull and people quit.
Possibly to reduce tickets to 450 would improve things, but as on most 4km maps if helis are shot down it becomes a real problem moving about.
Not many players have the desire to drive Logistic trucks far over 4km maps so once the helis are gone for a while it really gets hard.
I really wonder sometimes on the big maps about a FOB spawning transport vehicle unrealistic sure, but I think it'd improve gameplay alot.
