I need advice for components, please.

Post by CookieGuy »

(This is for my friend; he's interested in playing, and first all he would like to know if he would be able to play with these specs' BF :P R, all low maybe? - he wants to try it out.)

The questions that I got is;
-How much ram can this system hold.
-What graphic card should I get to be able to run BF :P R Medium/high settings(Preferably cheap)

anything else I should know? What kind ram does this motherboard supports? DDR/DDR2/DDR3?

Could I get a graphic card from this site please?: PCI-E Graphics Cards | PCI Express Video Cards | PCI-X Graphics Adapter. Buy Online Cheap PCI Express Graphics Cards from elara.ie
And possibly ram? I really could use an upgrade in RAM and graphics card, I'm pretty sure.

Thanks for your help

(Little note from this account holder, why doesn't my friends PCI express etc show up? To show which kind of graphics cards are compatible with this?
Would normal PCI express cards work?)

Alright, I looked around a lot for used M boards and decent CPU's but this is hopeless.
Most sites, even ebay sell just junk for prices close to new HW...LOL

So what i have so far is THIS and THIS.
The latter is actually quite decent build and if you have the budget jump all over it.

Can you tell us what is your max budget though?

I don't think so benny, its way too old.I mean it could maybe run on low to medium at best but its vaste of money for such old tech.
I ll look at the page you linked though.

What is your budget guys?
The best advice i can honestly give u is do not invest in old PC's unless you really, really cant spare 150-200 ish Eur

Edit- don't get confused by all the 2-3Ghz on those CPU's, doesn't mean really much as todays CPU of 1.8Ghz would be most likely a lot faster.
It is the new tech(nology) what makes the big difference inside those CPU''s tho

The best PC I was able to find is thisone - Desktop PC, Micro-ATX, Intel core i3-530: Find it at Buy and Sell

The GFX could be better but you should be able to max PR out plus its a lot more futureproof than any other PC's I've seen around.

Perhaps you could get it for 180Eur?

are you willing to build one? building is cheaper then buying a whole computer

newegg and tigerdirect have great prices.

now $250 budget is very low to build from scrath but is it possible to reuse some of your components?

if you want a good computer I suggest saving up a little more perhaps 500-600 and buying the parts

maybe ask your parents or brothers/sisters?

but with your current specs you can play on low if you upgrade RAM and GPU

that board can handle 4GB I belive as for the slots I am not sure if it has a PCI e slot

if it does you can get a 9 series G force for it but you have to check if you have enough power for the power supply

also you have a socket 775 so you can support dual core and quad core processors but you have ot make sure you have enough power

you have to decide wether you want to upgrade or save up a little and get a better thing altogether

socket 775 chips are cheap along with the memory as for the graphic card it will be fairly pricey in your budgect about $50 dollars
