Ejod Desert

Post by pr_profile »

One of the best AAS maps for PR ever. T-90 against TOW humvee and really exciting infantry battles inside the city. I think a lot of players wish to play it again. IMHO it was much more fun to play this map than new maps as Black Gold, Vadso Citiy, Beirut, etc...

Lets discuss.

P.S. and thanks DEVs for returning Assault on Mestia

I agree, this map was a really good map from PR. Once the US controled the city it was really fun to defend against MEC counter-attacks and it was one of those maps where you fired more without seeing you're enemy. It was truly a frontline based map.

without doubt one of my alltime favorites, though featured in every other mod, it never comes to life like in pr
personally, I expected this one to be in any oldies based mappack, mestia was a pleasant surprise though.

One of the greatest playing maps known to PR, we don't see straight on fights like that any more, that on the 128 would be mindblowing.

This map was great in its day... but the Mapping Team discussed bringing Ejod back and decided against it.

It has very few enterable buildings, the last flags for each team were horrible to defend or re-attack, FOBs were almost impossible to hide on this map for more than 5 minutes, and the list goes on. It's always possible we could bring it back as a 1km skirmish map but that would require a mapper to drop his work on a brand-new map to work on this one.

I honestly think if you guys played a round on Ejod today, it wouldn't live up to your memories. Feel free to add lots of comments about it, but just know that we DID evaluate it for the map pack and made a conscious decision not to include it.

Thanks

Don't like it. This is an old small map without all opportunities, that we have in a new big maps. And a quality of the map is very low for the PR standards.
I hope, all of the old shitty maps will be gone forever (Mestia, Operation Thomas the Tank Engine, Tad Sae, Barracuda, Archer and Kashan).

Instead of just saying they're shitty, would you mind sharing your thoughts about the maps with us?

Most of the map you stated are all Classic and will always make a comeback. Ejod has a special place in my heart, since its the first map i ever squad lead, and that was back in 0.7 good times.

Too much to write :D
It could be a new "War and peace", but I am not very good in English.

@ledo1222
Well, I know. Maybe Kashan is OK, but it is not fun anymore since we have Black Gold. And I am really tired of those bunkers in the middle of the map. Same scenario every time.

Ejod Desert V2 anyone?

Was one of the best maps when it was here, the rush for the city then trying to take the bunkers and stuff was awesome. Would love to see a USMC vs MEC Ejod Desert 2.0

I liked the map back then but I could only imagine Ejod being a skirmish map today. The map is simply too small.
If you think about it there was really only one way to play this map. FOBs were always placed the same places (gas station, desert fortification, garden, suburbs and somewhere random east of the city).

Ejod was one of my favorites back in the days, but with the current PR version, it just won't play out the same way. If the city was made bigger and the desert received some luvin', and still keep the good ol' Ejod feel, then it *could* work out. But it's up to the community to come up with something nice.

I loved it as well! Would almost pick up mapping for it to get it back in PR! Maybe someday when I get a new computer and finished all my freelance chores...

FOBs are usually placed in same places. Remember the places for FOBs at Kashan in bunkers, at Muttrah in docks, at Archer in castle and even the FOBs at old good Al Kufrah Oilfields.

If we find Ejod to be a small map, then lets imagine Ejod 2.0. What can be done with tons of sand in the desert around the city? There can be placed 1 or 2 bunkers for each side, maybe a small underground tunnel complex will be fine (like in Dragon Fly or Kozelsk) or a VCP at Gas station and Desert fortification flags.
Just a thought.

The difference being (other than archer) is that thous areas are huge and the FOs can be placed in lots of different places in that big area.

With EJOD Desert, it was just a tiny, little area where the FO was each round like the mapper had placed it there almost since the players had no other options unless they wanted to place it in an area it couldn't be defended etc.

There's no doubt the map is outdated. Rhino, go make a v2.0 - now.

FOBs on Ejod? I miss the good old rallypoints that would stay forever and where you could request a kit from. :p
