Remove/Tweak collision damage to armor

Post by FLAP_BRBGOING2MOON »

Problem: many heavily armored vehicles take damage from terrain and minor collisions. after they take the slightest amount of damage they become one shottable by TOW's HAT's and even a well placed AP shell, in the front arc.

Solution: tweak/remove terrain collision damage for armor.

personal driving choices and skills aside, vehicles designed to shrug off high explosives and drive through entire buildings with ease should not take damage from sand dunes and anthills.

now i realize the total removal may run into problems such as driving off cliffs without recourse, and if the damage could be tweaked so only free falls cause damage that would be ideal.

I'm approving this suggestion, mainly just to explain it.

One of the key things I remember from when I went on the Challenger 2 Driving simulator at Bovington Camp in 2007 was how easy it was to damage your tank by driving incorrectly. Hit a slope too hard and your tracks got screwed up etc. Even if you drove onto a CSB too fast you risked the chance of the entire bridge collapsing. Pretty much all of us who tried it for the first time screwed up our tracks pretty badly at one point or another during the simulation.

As such while we could possibly slightly improve the damage you get from driving on terrain badly, chances are that we wouldn't be able to do much more without a massive amount of work but removing it would be unrealistic.
