Mumble sound issue

Post by johan19 »

Hi
I have a problem when I put mumble on, the music goes through my speakers not my headset. Although I tried to change my settings. It didnt help, any advice.(1)

Here is what I have done already AND didnt help:

Changing mumble setup (audio)
Changing my pc setup (audio and sound)
Reinstalling mumble...

Is this because its still beta or not?(2)

Music not going to your headset when you turn mumble on, but it plays when its off? What kind of headset do you have? Are you sure all is setup right in Windows sound control panel?

First of all thanks for your respons.
I'll explain myself a little better:

My brother wherefore I try to fix this has a laptop.
His microphone is working OK.

After installing PR mumble, and when he starts his PR mumble. The sound that before went through his headset is NOW going through his speakers of his laptop.

I hope I explained myself clear this time.

And I also do hope there is a solution?

(sorry for my perhaps bad english explanation)

Thanks in advance.

Im not sure what problem might be here. Go trough audio settings for mumble and windows, and see if you got anything wrong setup there. If its easier for you try writing on your native language, as I dont clearly understand what is going on there.

Lets see if I got it right.

Your brother has a laptop and you are trying to install mumble on it. Microphone work OK, but now music is not playing trough headset, only trough laptop speakers.

Is that right?

If so, can he hear other people on mumble and trough which device? Speakers or headphones, or maybe both?

Yes, thats true. Sounds go trough his headset when PR mumble is OFF, but not when PR mumble is ON. He can hear the sounds trough the speakers.

Thank you

Here what you need to do.

Right click on your Sound system tray icon and select Playback devices. Window will popup and there choose Speakers in Playback devices.

In bottom right corner you will see Properties. Click that and go to Advanced tab. Make sure to ucheck all there - Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device and Give exclusive mode applications priority. Apply and OK.

Now go back to Communications tab in Playback devices, and make sure to select Do Nothing radio button.

Other than that check again sound setup I'm quite sure there is the problem. If nothing works, you can temporarily disable your speakers while gaming.

This is a good one.
I think you have the "output device" set to the speakers option from inside the Mumble program options.
First try Massive's post above. If that doesn't fix it the below options will.

Start mumble, go to Configure->Settings , left column Select Audio Output, select the dropdown box for output device. You will find a tab for output device, switch it to either "system default" or to whatever you use for your headphones. Could be "Headphones", could be "realtek output", or USB headphones, depending on your motherboard and if you have analog or USB headphones.

Post again and we'll fix this.

Check this sticky and make sure you go trough all steps there. If that wont help you cant try to reinstall. Make sure to backup you certificate so you wont have to register again.

Posting in this thread because I'm having the same issue.

All sound from PR Mod defaults to PC speakers. Haven't gotten into a game to see if mumble is outputting to the headset or not, but I assume it would.

Considering that it might be an issue with PR itself, and not mumble.

Hoping someone can help. I can provide more information if needed, just need to know what you need to know.
