Re: Review of Rifle/DMR/Sniper Damage
I always presumed that the bullets do the given damage to balance the capabilities of the infantry when they are facing each other. Hence all of the DMR's do the same damage because Hamas Marksman kit would be useless, not even worth having (unless you want to always headshot people).
Wether that's necessary is a point for debate I suppose.

Um.. I'm not sure what you mean but all rifles fire their own rounds with their own. The Hamas rifle is just an M-4 with the DMR deviation.Mikemonster wrote:I always presumed that the bullets do the given damage to balance the capabilities of the infantry when they are facing each other. The grouping in that video looks like it would be horrendous, which is how it should be. Take an AK in PR and you would be able to hit anything full auto at a decent range just by pulling down on your mouse ^^40mmrain wrote:well yes full auto with .308 isnt that unrealistic.

You know, you're probably saying word for word what DICE said when making VBF2. I thought PR was meant to be above this shit, but the past few years have proved that it's just another game.dtacs wrote:Its called gameplay comes first. Asset imbalance would make the game totallyl unfun for one team, which is just stupid.
Nobody can ever say that the game should be as close as it can to real warfare, otherwise it'd just be a total obliteration for one side the entire game.
On that, you can't "redefine" realism. That's a clear contradiction of terms.

It's called logic. "Redefining" realism it's not the same thing as providing the means for an entire faction to steamroll the other. At the end of the day, it's still a game.Truism wrote:You know, you're probably saying word for word what DICE said when making VBF2. + there's still no online "realistic" FPS PvP that comes close to what PR is...what can you possible compare with to feel unsatisfied?

Gameplay should trump realism whenever the two clash. I play PR because I enjoy the teamwork and the fact it hasn't compromised gameplay for realism. I'd play ArmAII if I want just the latter.

I would like to see all weapons in game do more damage. In my opinion it would be a plus to both game play AND realism.

Re: Review of Rifle/DMR/Sniper Damage
I used to think that, but another way of looking at it is: How many incoming rounds does it take usually to wound a soldier enough to have him sent home?Conman51 wrote:I would like to see all weapons in game do more damage. In my opinion it would be a plus to both game play AND realism.
Probably matched with PR at the moment, if not more (in my non-first-hand opinion).

Re: Review of Rifle/DMR/Sniper Damage
Well yes it does, but each DMR has its own specific bullet with its own specific damage.
Normal 5.56
DMR 5.56
ObjectTemplate.create GenericProjectile 556_45_dmr
ObjectTemplate.material 3556
ObjectTemplate.damage 41
ObjectTemplate.minDamage 0.4
ObjectTemplate.DistToStartLoseDamage 600
ObjectTemplate.DistToMinDamage 2000
ObjectTemplate.gravityModifier 0.1
include projectiles_common.tweak
DMRs do have a damage increase but they don't share the same bullet. Again, currently the 7.62 (DMR and MEC) are the big losers in this whole situation.

ObjectTemplate.material 3762
ObjectTemplate.damage 58
ObjectTemplate.minDamage 0.4
ObjectTemplate.DistToStartLoseDamage 600
ObjectTemplate.DistToMinDamage 2000
ObjectTemplate.gravityModifier 0.1
include projectiles_common.tweak
Compared to the 5.56 they should be doing something like 300% its damage instead of just 30% more.

Re: Review of Rifle/DMR/Sniper Damage
Aside from just damage another problem with snipers rifles is the fact they take so much longer to steady even at 150-300M or point blank that they are made useless compared to a DMR. Out to the range a sniper meant to be effective. The DMR seems to have more accuracy also and miss less even with the wait time.
