PKM and PKP

Post by DeltaCommando »

Hello, dear devs.
Sorry to bother you with another question of this kind, but here it goes:
Is the new PKM (and possibly the PKP with optics) going to be in the next patch?
I just can't wait to use it.
You have bewitched me with that teaser and I had no news about it since then! :)
Thank you.

You won't get to see it before you see it, so does it realy matter?
We'll find out when the next patch comes out.
Untill then...... *cue patient bear...*

No, it won't.

But please don't make posts like this. You'll have all the answers to your questions in a feature post in the following days. ;)

No PKM? Odd considering the model seemed pretty much finished.

It may seem finished in a highlight showing off the nice model and textures. However after that (the first person viewpoint model) is done, a set of LODs needs to be made, animations need to be done, the weapon needs to be exported and finally coded. That's all alot of work and can take as long as, if not longer than, the time it took to do the 1p model and textures.

Giving someone a machine gun to animate as their first animation task is cruel and sadistic :p

You know, scope cannot be mounted on PKM, maybe it's reasonable to create a model of RPK-74M with 1p29 scope and leave PKM as ironsighted variant? Or what you're going to do?

It has no M1913 aka piccatinny rails found on the M16A4, M4 etc. but it does have a dovetail mount on the left side. There are quite a few pics floating around of Interior Ministry PKP's with mounts allowing EOTech and western sights.

Edit:

Also, could anyone with knowledge of the above say where that picture was taken? Doesn't look like Chechnya or Dagestan, almost like Afghanistan or somewhere in Central Asia.

I'm pretty sure it says Dagestan in the lower right of the picture there (from wiki: Респу́блика Дагеста́н, Respublika Dagestan). :)
