blackice55 wrote:I totaly agree with that. When I am flying transport chopper in aas map sometime I receive complains by peapol who are thinking they are in real life... im actualy very good at flying these thing but some player think we cant do any error... And by saying error I dont mean crashing the chopper! By that I mean mistake like fail droping crate because its on the top of a building, getting shoot down by aa etc. Yesterday I have done a very good round with the transport chopper on russian side. I have not lose a single one chopper. The only mistake I have done is to drop a squad one grid away of the position they wanted to land, because my squad leader was to busy to put me marker. And they were land in a safe zone. They start complaining and bitching me at how I was stupide and not able to fly... Result for me in a rage quit. These kind of thing realy ruins a game for me.
Make sure you tell the WHOLE story Blackice. I was your SL. You didn't have a mic, which made it difficult for coordination. I placed a marker exactly where the squad wanted to be dropped off; but you landed a full grid (4 keypads) closer to the known enemy location. At that time I recommended we rotate piloting duties (since we had 3 pilots in the squad) and you said "F*ck off" and quit.

I dont blame you for anything and i had not seen your marker. its just the fact that they were insulting me and in the same time you said to switch pilot because I drop them away. I rage quit because I take that for an insult.

I wasn't insulting you. I asked politely to be dropped in the same place twice yet you could't, even though the H shape building is commonly known and easily recognizable. I suggest you get a mic as well, as hotfranc took over as pilot and was tenfold easier to operate with.

I suggest that you learn maps and terrain features, its critical knowledge as a chopper pilot. Nothing is more irritating as an infantry squad leader to be dropped in an utterly random position without explanation and when a perfectly good drop location is provided.

We all need to just lighten up, it's just a game.

I think we should dissallow "PRBF2 IS DYING OMG" threads. Someone could perhaps lock this?

Sometimes, I question why I even play if I get more frustration than enjoyment. I'm actually surprised at myself because of how hostile I've managed to get due to failures recently :-( .
So true, I sometimes hop on PR, but right now everything is so strict, what people before saw as quality gameplay is now shit, mostly because the game itself leaves little to no room for error. I have not played PR in like half a year or so, and I ask why I am really here now, possibly because Pr is the game I have played the most. But the times I log on I ask myself if I have fun or I am just irritated on something totally random and the latter is something I answer myself much more then before sadly.

I found this sentence quite funny and since this is a war game forum I will put it here. No offense to the french just a good laugh.

I second this. There is no use in talking about something dying. The only way to fix it is actually PLAYING THE GAME! Seriously, you are the only ones who can fix this.

i love it when people get pissed off over the internet! i just hope my fraps is on

anyway blackice no pun, but when you consistently screw up in PR, people remember that and if u keep getting insulted than you might want to try doing something else, trying being a medic and directly communicating with people. You can directly communicate with the sqd and sqler in the chopper it's not hard, make sure you can hear mumble over everything. If the sqler can't put down a mark, improvise. Simply say i have to marker nofollow guys but hears the best i can do".

@ wicca - this thread has a nice abidance to it, leave it up.. any words that can be said here and not typed while playing is less spam for all of us

now I got a new mic and it was temporary. Everytime I joined a sqd I was on mumble and asking for wath kit the squad leader want me. Also Im not constantaly "screw" in pr. Seem only to happen to me on tactical gamer. (nothing against tg here lol). I run a lot of trans on other server and doing all the time 100% my job. With a mic I dont screw up anything. And you may consider also the fact that english is not my main language. Its probaly because of years of project reality that I am now able to write on this forum without using google translator. But sometime when 4 person talk to me in same time in english... well I got mind f***. I continu to believe that peapol take this game way to seriously sometime and I dont think I will change my mind on that.

Hi blackice, I was the BRDM SL on that server during that map. The reason that most people were getting frustrated was that firstly, TG generates higher expectations because both sides are more likely to be decently organised AND the map was Beirut. Which as RUS, demands an almost perfectly play from the Russians not to get owned against a competent IDF team (which we were up against).

Our team did pretty well, but looking at it from dtacs' view the stakes are high as an INF SL when you know that things need to go well to have a chance.

People do take this game seriously, a round can last 3hrs, and lots of people have jobs, schoolwork or other requirements on their lives, so they want to spend it as well as possible.

Being shot down, killed etc etc is acceptable IF enough forthought went into avoiding it in the first place :D like when I'm piloting choppers I talk to teh SL on mumble, I say "where to mate?" he might say "to G5 kp 2 plz" I say "righto mate, an enemy APC was reported south of that location five minutes ago, I'd much rather put you north easy of that location in I7, is that acceptable?" and he'll say "yeah" or give an alternative plan or tell me if he has updated info on that APC etc.

3 minutes of planning saves 10minutes chopper spawn time, and anoother 5 minutes sorting out another transport :D or you all get killed anyway due to the enemy having a good plan - but at least you did everything to avoid it.

Always remember that the infantry will rather survive and walk for a few hundred meters, than die directly on a hot LZ.

The frustating scenario is this - you tell the pilot an exact location and all relevant information, pilot flies and misses location by at least 300m, and lands you directly in combat where you promptly die, and chopper probably dies too. I'd much rather a pilot abort the landing all together, swing round and drop us at an alternative LZ - I like to arrange an alternative LZ with my pilots for those scenarios :)

new games temporarily taking players away, and also alot of really great teamplayers moving to ArmA2 do put alot of pressure on PR. But still, good games to be found. I've been encouraging the community to band together and meld different servers together to have fewer, more populous servers for years now because of it. So many clans want their own server, they'd save themselves time and money by joining a clan alliance or gaming community instead like PRTA or TG respectively.
i think those "alliances" should give up and play on clan servers. 8-)

Those are the more fun ones ofc!

However illidur, I think it would be better for everyone to make PR better. :) Where they play makes little difference.

Although I pretty much agree, this is a double edged sword and not necessarily that healthy solution you may think. With less servers the less competitive approach and diversity comes to play, also the diffusion of responsibility is present (many owners, clan leaders, etc.). It's somewhat good to see a lot of server competing with each other and in result indirectly increasing mod standards than end up playing on the same and only available server with really irritating admins or rules, because in the case of latter both experience of mod and quality of gameplay is going downhill. :P So as far as I can tell I prefer to see few servers dying and by that have overall mod quality bumped than other way around. There are also other factors, but I guess it's not really the topic. :)
