FAKE Project Reality advertisement's.
No this is NOT against PR...
But recently, while I was checking my email...
4 ad's came up on the side bar, and top bar of Gmail...
I was checking on my iphone for my email.. and then I hopped on here trying and hoping to see them again to post some pics on here about this 'scam' or fake ad's.
It said...
"Project Reality Version 1.0 Released!! PAY now for premium membership!!"
They led to some site, I can't remember the name... It was like Project something.
I also saw another one...
"Project Reality is now an official game, buy it now!"
**I did not click on the links. It was the same site for the first one.
I am not spamminig a pointless thread, but just giving a little head's up or something so no one screw's up by entering their CC info.
(But I know the community isn't that stupid!)
**I will contact a Community Admin/Dev w/ pictures if I see these advertisements again!!!

I think this is the kind of adds that take your search stats and make ads with it to send you to sites like
"You won a free Iphone!!"
Or like when you enter wrongly a website and you get a random publicity site instead, like this one :
overclocking.info - overclocking Resources and Information. This website is for sale!
Pics od it didn't happen
Otherwise it reminds me of mattnet

Also one other thing to bring to the DEVs attention is a GTA 4 mod called project reality II
GTA4-Mods.com - Grand Theft Auto 4 car mods, tools, and more!
Also guys he isn't complaining about ads on THIS wedsite but that there was an ad advertising a fake project reality, hense copyright breaches, and that they are asking for a premium membership, am I not correct?

Re: FAKE Project Reality advertisement's.
I'm pretty sure it is as Rhino commented on the BF3 mod/server thread:
[R-DEV]Rhino wrote:- Moved to off topic, this has nothing to do with PR...
By all means we welcome you to make a realistic mod for BF3 but by no means can you use the name "Project Reality" as Project Reality is a copyrighted brand that belongs to us and as such, you can not legally use it without our permission.
Call it what you like for all I care just don't call it Project Reality, otherwise you are ripping PR off and doing so illegally.
- Renamed topic title to: "-=Battlefield 3 Hardcore Reality Mod=- Please help us get this GOING!" removing "Project" from in front of Reality.

Re: FAKE Project Reality advertisement's.
As far as I'm aware copyright is automatic on anything it applies to, by which all assets including the logo would be covered and therefore any unauthorised reproduction of them would be a breach. Did a quick search about how brands/names are covered by copyright and came across this which I think means using the name/brand of project reality would come under the "passing off" term.Dev1200 wrote:Is PR copyrighted?
Generally I believe brands and their logos are covered under trademarks, which have to be applied for and registered in the country they will cover. The project reality logo probably could be trademarked (based on the guidelines here), though that would only cover the UK and does cost.

Re: FAKE Project Reality advertisement's.
When i enter PR forums, the adsense advert gives me advert about "DATING MATURE LADIES" even though i opted out of adsense cookies and related stuff.
Must be becuase of the PR forum population consisting of "DRUNK" MIDDLE AGED MEN.....
(i find some people playing PR drunk)

So if it based the advertisements on your browsing history you would expect to get the same ads?Ramjali wrote:gives me advert about "DATING MATURE LADIES" even though i opted out of adsense cookies and related stuff.

Re: FAKE Project Reality advertisement's.
If you opt out of adsense, you'll stop getting such ads, which i have done becuase i was annooyed by ads saying "date asians", probably because i am an asian and isnt uncommon to watch asian videos ie Japanese, korean and etc, thus i dont get why that random ad comes up.'Limeni[BiH wrote:;1727728']Or you are surfing porn sites with mature ladies.
Most of the ads I see are related to my daily surfing activities

So you spend your time watching tentacle... related... videos and you're trying to hide it by deleting your history and cookies?Ramjali wrote:i am an asian and isnt uncommon to watch asian videos ie Japanese, korean and etc, thus i dont get why that random ad comes up.
