Need Help: SSD Full Disk Encryption and AES New Instruction CPUs

Post by LITOralis.nMd »

Hello,
I am in a bind at work, just got directive that I have to implement Full Disk Encryption across all PCs/notebooks and external HDs and thumbdrives in network.

I have a mixed network, just completely random hardware brought in and owned by staffers...

Anyone here have real life experience using full disk encryption on Sandforce based controller SSDs?

Anyone here have real life experience using full disk encryption on Intel based controller SSDs? Crucial SSDs? Samsung SSDs?

Anyone here have real life experience using full disk encryption on C2D CPU/Mobos?

Anyone here have real life experience using full disk encryption on Win7Ultimate/Winserver2008r2 Bitlocker and any of the above?

And finally, Anyone here have real life experience using full disk encryption software suites?

ummm... good luck on getting someone to fulfill all your needs. I am familiar with bitlocker only and in no way have the money to toy with that many SSD's, let alone play with their TRIM settings or encrypting over your database. This is pro level stuff but i have a friend who i know can help. What SSD's? Why so many? Little more detail. I've Done CIS and Networking classes so i can at least get a good grasp of where you are going.

Quote on FDE : it doesn't mean files are protected if copied to other PC, and has nothing to do with encryption once OS is booted. OS has to have separate level of encryption.

If you need FDE only, it doesn't sound like much of a hassle to me. But I guess they want all of the data encrypted, not just bases.
