I think hmmwvs should be driven in pairs. two .50cals working together is better than one big fat valuable target.

I think the solution is to give more transport vehicles at the start.

Re: Increase .50 Cal Humvee and Land Rover seats to six.
yea im the one who wrote the feedback thread, thanks for writing this suggestion.
But yea having lots of humvees in the start leads to either
-Noobs 1 manning
-devalue of the vehicles
-overkill (.50 cals?!?)
its just sounds right to make a 6 man humvee. Sure you're right that it makes it one big valuable target, but thats the point isn't it? you gotta watch your back, & plus you can easily fit the 6th guy in the trunk, which they sometimes even use for injured soldiers and need to rest. or just make a 3rd seat in between the 2 guys in the back like the german and MEC cars.
People undermind the .50cal that is all, ONE SHOT anywhere in the torso or up and he's a goner. People get trigger happy, need to learn marksmanship and make every shot count. If you have a good .50 cal, the humvee wouldn't be such a big valuable target after all.
Honestly, like what that guy said, the whole light to heavy vehicles need to be reworked. fallujah is easy peasy especially if theres a cache in a6 for marines. 3 different apcs?
yea yea sure we have a transport humvee with the same number of seats, but transport humvees are either
-basically the Zebras of South Africa, technicals are the lions.
-a squad uses these vehicles so the extra one guy can have an extra spot. which is in turn one manning. or they do 3 on 3, but still thats a waste.
Sure it's not realistic, but what can you do with this game engine? |:

Hmm, the first point is generally resolved through good servers/admins. The server I regularly play on doesn't allow single-manning of assets like humvees, and the level of teamwork is sufficiently high that it's quite rare to see people breaking that rule.imjustthatguy wrote: -Noobs 1 manning

Devaluing of the vehicles is a point I can understand, however considering squads will quite often leave humvees in the field as it is currently, I'm not sure how it could get much worse aside from there being more humvees to leave around.
I think there may be a larger problem here that there isn't a great deal of benefit to staying in the humvee once you've reached the objective. This is partly down to the players, but also because they aren't that effective on their own; the 1 or 2 players needed effectively gun and drive them are often more useful on foot (this may improve if/when the squad size is increased). In terms of the Humvee's firepower, the gunner is vulnerable to marksman and sniper fire and can't be revived on being shot which cripples the squad and they don't have scopes or binoculars to identify where threats are.
Then again the number of times i've seen SLs say "nah, just leave the humvee" is quite high. I've found them to be quite useful if you continually suppress as you move in, but SLs don't seem to formulate plans around that.
I don't disagree that it should be a valuable target, though currently I think they are almost more dangerous than going on foot.imjustthatguy wrote:its just sounds right to make a 6 man humvee. I think the idea of .50 cal is mainly to suppress/area attack, at least that seems to be the better use in game, because it's pretty damn hard to hit someone with the .50 cal if they don't want to get shot.imjustthatguy wrote:People undermind the .50cal that is all, ONE SHOT anywhere in the torso or up and he's a goner. Well some servers don't have that and it would be nice if they got rid of it completely. i've seen lots of people do it without punishment |: even with report.AquaticPenguin wrote:Hmm, the first point is generally resolved through good servers/admins. They should just make humvee armor alittle more thicker. I know its a light transportation role, but what good is it if it can get destroyed easily. Just make it so that an rpg around the frontier only puts it on white smoke and side hits take black smoke or even fire? that way if it is about to blow up, the passengers can get out and even if they do die, they die as wounded. (which means revive
On that other note, they should make it so the 3rd passenger (the guy in the front right seat) should have his binoculars equiped and LOCKED only so he can observe whats infront of him, and maybe spot for .50cal? That may resolve that issue.

No thank you.imjustthatguy wrote:Just make it so that an rpg around the frontier only puts it on white smoke and side hits take black smoke or even fire?
Why would an RPG meant to destroy Armour not tear a light skinned vehicle to shreds? Not to mention the effect the blast would have on any poor souls inside said vehicle.
It makes up for the lack of protection with high maneuverability, and pretty good speed.
