Re: Remove the kill counter?
I think it would be a good addition, how many times have I killed a squad and then waited for the kills to show up in the scorelist ? It's not very realistic...

Re: Remove the kill counter?
I think the end of the round is the best option, but I do want the ability to see the squad k/d and points. So if it's possible to add the squad score and k/d at the end of the round, I would say implement it. Else it's going to be a pain in the *** to find out what you achieved as a squad.
It could be added to the best squad screen maybe, like the best is on top of the screen and your squad is on the bottom both showing k/d and score for each member and the squad's total..

Its probably not possible, but what if your kills only showed up if you confirmed them? As in, you shoot a guy, the kill doesn't show on your score. You go within X meters of the body (presumably like 5m) and it shows up.

Re: Remove the kill counter?
First off: I am confused - in the overview it said: "last post by maarit, today 2:00 am" but then when I look at his post it says it is from 12 - 9 - 2010...
ANYWAY:
I voted for "remove and focus on team effort".
---------------------
My idea regarding this issue is posted on another thread but I give it again...
The idea/wish/plan would be to remove the actual kill counter and show the tickets taken and lost.
I see multiple (at least 2) advantages in that:
- People would still be able to see and realize that they killed sth.
(I believe people want that as it is a feedback of some sort).
- An APC gunner that kills ONLY 10 guys and then loses his vehicle gets a K-D-R similar to a normal inf guy. You could really see, how good people use their assets.
- As a well functioning squad you might have lots of downed guys that you "revive" again. These wounded soldiers and the lost tickets don't show in the current system but would with the display of tickets.
- Since the game (at least AAS and on blufor side) basically is about not losing too much tickets it would give a better idea of "who is doing good" and who isn't.
- ...probably more side effects I can not think about right now
----------------------
The other suggestion about adding "costs" to limited kits could also be implemented in this system pretty easily if it would be accepted.
----------------------
Since it is rather late for me right now I really hope people get what I am aiming at with that - if not I am always willing to elaborate - just ask!
kind regards,
Kilo Out!
EDIT:
Thanks Xavo for clearing this up for me!

Re: Remove the kill counter?
With regards to the last post thing, when someone votes in the pole it counts as a post in the thread and will bump it back to the top no matter when the last actual post was.

Re: Remove the kill counter?
In my idealized, perfect PR there is no KDR scoreboard.
Or it should combine the options about squad focused scoreboard and showing at the end of the round. ^_^

Re: Remove the kill counter?
Sigh. The ole kill counter. I really don't care anymore. As long as I get to put lots of rounds down range and see my enemy fly in the air like someone hit him with a car and squelch out loud, then I'm happy.

Re: Remove the kill counter?
There's an issue in that the whole scoreboard provides information one would not have in real life, namely providing a sort of kill confirmation and telling one whom exactly they're fighting.

this. especially when you use mortars, you can get a very good picture what/who you are hitting just by watching the scoreboard.ShockUnitBlack wrote:There's an issue in that the whole scoreboard provides information one would not have in real life, namely providing a sort of kill confirmation and telling one whom exactly they're fighting.

Re: Remove the kill counter?
... you really had to warm that up again? It's a pretty old debate and with all what happened in the developing of PR since 2010 it is pretty obvious how the devs feel about this.
So why bother?
So why bother?

Re: Remove the kill counter?
with all what happend since 2010 there are new reasons for removing it, like mortars blindfiring and still getting intel via scoreboard

Re: Remove the kill counter?
Agreed. It dumbs down the teamwork aspect a lot when the mortars can look at the scoreboard rather than depending on their infantry or others in the team. Plus all people care about is kills a lot of the time. Remove the scoreboard more focus on actually playing the game, people might coordinate and work together better to. You wouldn't have the distraction of people worrying about K/D so much likely.Furst wrote:id also love that! operation clean HUD!

Re: Remove the kill counter?
I vote for removal. Ingame, the kill counter adds absolutely nothing to the gameplay except unrealistic confirmation. With no upside to it (except for length of E-penis), the only thing it provides is intel about things you would never know IRL:
- whether or not you killed the entire vehicle crew of that vehicle you set on fire
- whether or not CAS is down after it disappeared from your view
- whether or not your mortars hit anything
- whether or not those guys you just killed gave up already or are awaiting reinforcents which could revive them
All unnessecary and unrealistic information.
IMO we need a kill counter that only shows at the end of the round or has a significant delay (like 5-10 minutes instead of the 1 atm) on it.

Re: Remove the kill counter?
Show it, but only show it on a personal level. So you know if you killed that one guy you were shooting at, but everyone else only sees your team and total scores.

Re: Remove the kill counter?
No it should only be showed post game. You wouldn't know if that guy you were shooting at is dead or not unless you confirmed it or your team did. People spend too much time worrying about the scoreboard rather than working as a team.
