Logic behind vehicle mounted TOWs

Here's a video where we can clearly see the speed of the missile, pretty interesting (although I hate the guy who uploads these vid's)

Regarding the speed, one of the arguments given here was to match it to the view distance instead of giving it a realistic velocity. Imagine a tank on that hill in the vid - The TOW launch would have been sighted and the TOW vehicle destroyed by a tank shell whilst the missile was in flight. Just to keep you in the loop.
