Is there a way to be "spectator" for making movies?

Well you cannot be a spectator in real time, I'm assuming it's an anti-cheating measure. Think, teams could have informants that go out and spot enemies in spectator mode and send intel to the commander. That would be unfair.

The closest thing you can do is get the battlerecorder files, you can record your own locally and some online servers have them available for download. After the match, you can load them up and fly around in "spectator" mode.

You, also have the ability to spawn a camera man kit from the PR files... Just hope no one tries to shoot you even though you have a Media hat on.

If you have access to a server you could use PRBOT to spectate live action. (Note there are requirements such as the server needs to be locked and your ingame name added to PRSPECTATORS in realityconfig_common.py)

If you are just after some scenery type footage you could use PRBOT on a local server

Go in a local server.

In chat type :

RCON debug

Then type :

RCON PRBOT

The PRBOT is a vehicle, you enter it. Also you can switch weapons in the BOT to make the HUD disapear.
