Pixel-Skipping

Post by RyanParsons7 »

Since I started playing PR I always saw the annoying "pixel-skipping" problem with the aiming, when moving your mouse especially when zoomed in the aim will skip at least 5-10 pixels and it gets annoying.

It looks alot like this but a bit less.

Is this a game engine issue or something else? Also I never get this problem on other games and I have tried with alot of different DPI settings on the mouse to get the same result.

Current Setup:
Windows 7 64bit
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Processor at 3.40GHz
1080p 60MHz Monitor
4GB RAM
Radeon 6850 1GB
1TB HDD

Any help?

turn down windows and/or ingame mouse sensitivity right, right down, then turn up the DPI on your mouse = same mouse movement, more accuracy.

Old bf2 engine oddity, often you can even see you are hitting the target but you need to strafe left/right just one single half second tap of the key and your shots will land where you intend.

You should also turn off mouse acceleration.

Basically, software speed reduces accuracy, while actual DPI on the mouse increases accuracy.

Search for similar threads also, there is a lot on this. I have my in game sensitivity at 0.1 and my mouse cranked up high. Same in Windows.

your mouse software or settings are doing it. i turn it all off and use my mouse dpi (pixel per inch) to adjust.

I found out that a way of finding out if it is the mouse or the game causing the problem, I made a image at the same size of my resolution and adding 1 black pixel somewhere and used the magnifier to see how many pixels the mouse moves across every time, and it did go 1 pixel at a time so it must be a ingame issue.

Also alot of games have this problem, BF2 has it I think because the engine isn't really fit for high resolutions because it is a very old engine.

I have this problem in large laggy maps. Just turn down your settings a bit and play with mouse configurations until it's gone.

I think they have to add more pixels to the US sniper scope thats on Muttrah city.

with low or medium resolution you lose the line that goes up and down.

lol.... You do know that is a totally irrelevant test.... Its basically like saying you had a target that was 1px, but then you zoomed in on it with your scope and then it was 10px big.

Image pixels dose not equal screen pixels when zoomed in or out....

At which point it would become too "fat" top aim with. Just turn on Anti-Aliasing.

I suggest researching BF2 hit boxes and hit box lag before being worried about per-pixel aiming. Dam marketing men and there sales gimmicks fooling noobs into buying expensive gaming mice. Not to mention the latest fad, keystroke ghosting, on gaming keyboards. Research lag, ping, interpolation in ref to multiplayer online games. Keystroke ghosting what ever next, Gaming suit to reduce the static field when sitting next to your PC. Insert gimp suit .jpg plz.
