Vadso City Feedback

Post by qs-racer »

Hello,

Just a thread to say what do you think about Vadso map, AAS or skirmish Russian vs GB.

Image

In my opinion, it's a little unbalanced for russian, because if the havok is used badly, the team will lose in few minutes.
Russian APC are less armored and powered than british one, don't have thermal and are kill very easily by sraw.
GB apc have thermal and can kill easily the russian hat.

If GB cap all the flag it is impossible to russian to re-cap dam.

edit : i just forget the essential : music is.... funny :D

  • Huge asset imbalance (GB dominate the Russians, why are they invading Norway without T-90s?);
  • Not enough POI's in the south-central interior of the map, pretty much making the area redundant;
  • Ability for GB to ambush Russian vehicles at the southern and northern bridges on the eastern side of the map, makes for very frustrating logistics if the Russians don't have proper chopper support
Overall a pretty solid map for PR's first 4km amphibious assault. At the same time though, it drops short of the quality seen on other maps. I understand that pleym was going for realism but in my opinion the airfield just doesn't offer the same fight as the city. There is no climax in the fight like there is on Muttrah, Shijia or Beirut. It just goes from the large, heated metropolitan area to a rural bridge or radar which doesn't make sense.

Would've made a better 2km.

Asset imbalance? What? The Russians get a T-90, a Havoc, a BTR-80A, a BTR-80, a BRDM Spandrel, 2x KPV BRDMs and a .50 MTLB... If the Russians can't win asset wise it's because their team is a great fail.

Agree on the part of the ambushing. It's just silly easy to get HAT'd coming out of gas station whatever route you take.

Gas station spawn needs to be fixed. It keeps getting blocked very often.

I really like the lengthy matches on this map, and I would argue that this is one of the most fun maps to be an APC driver/gunner in. From the hills to the urban area, vehicle gameplay is really intense. Love all the multi-story buildings, too, but I wish more of the small houses could be entered as well.

Havent seen this thread before now, not searching the forums often enough.

I'm probably gonna update the map in the future after I have finnished my new map that sould be a lot better than this.. Vadso City was my first map, so had still more to learn after it.

I think the reason the ALT (alternative) layer isn't used must be that server admins dosen't know that its the same asset layout as STD (standard). The difference is random flags that includes more of the southern part of the map aswell as the costal. The "balance" could be better on the ALT layer. But the only thing I know atm is taht the Brits are winning most often like MEC does on muttrah. But the asset layout is pretty balanced. They both have tanks, apcs, helicopters, boats, but the Havoc need to face an AA so thats the main differnece. but still with a powerfull havoc the russians are struggling with winning.

But I suggest that peopels come with inputs on how the map can be better balanced.
So just scream out! ;-)

*NwA* has not had this map in the list since the beginning because it caused more server crashes than usual. Has that been looked into already?

Played it on NEW quite successfully (can't recall single crash).

BTW those wrecked cars on streets look very weird in this scenery that is not demolished at all. :p

Played it quite often on NEW and on PRTA with no server crashes. Must be the NwA server.

The "problem" got fixed after the beta testing, but its only NwA that has had the crash prbolem so I guess its not set up correctly or the server is struggling with running the map.

I think its server related for NwA.

We can have random crashed on any map. but vadso crashed on loading somehow.

Just posting after my first playing of it yesterday that I encountered numerous CTDs on this map. No error messages just a straight up CTD. Once on loading, and twice in game. I've upped my ram to 4 gbs and run a 32 bit OS. The map doesn't seem to impact FPS or differ much from Silent Eagle/Burning Sands...

Kind words? I love the map! I like the bare mountains a lot and think that how smooth they are should be standard for most 4km maps in future.

That's your problem. Vista is a pretty bad OS. I'd recommend closing anything you don't think you need but don't go searching for things. CTD's are pretty hard to diagnose since there is no error message.
