[Code] No ingame score
i started to work on removing the score from the ingame scoreboard and only giving at the end, as suggested here.
my approach is it track profileId, kills, deaths and score seperatly from the player objects that are used withing bf2 and update them on the end of the round. i also tried adding a timer that updates every X seconds (atm 60s), but that does only work sometimes.
Feel free to try and improve it

its a modified version of the scoringCommon.py of vBf2 so it wont work with PR i guess.

Re: No ingame score
does anyone knoe how the rcon command "player.isAlive <bool>" works? i wanted to try and remove the grey-out of dead players with that but i only get "Error: Unauthorised Method!" everytime i use it.
Edit: nvm got it to work but the game glitches when you force a dead player to be alive, they cant respawn. will try something else

Re: [Code] No ingame score
I think this is a good idea and a bad idea. Good because it will add realism and people won't constantly be focused on getting kills. Bad because some people get a kick out of getting kills. To be honest though I'm all for it.
Off we fuck.

What?. Does this disable you to fire/kill enemy. And prevent you to take a piece of paper and write down your kills midround? It doesnt. You still get the kicks out of it.jax wrote:Bad because some people get a kick out of getting kills. To be honest though I'm all for it.

Lol sorry didn't think you would get all offensive about this but what I mean is that some people like to boast about the kills they have.... But I'm sure all you're going to say is that they can just wait until the end of the round. So I'm not going to bother with this thread because any input I have will just have a opposite and equal rebuttle so I'm not going to bother with this thread anymore. Good luck Mats.
Off we fuck.

There is 0 bad things in such decision. Only positives; you cant tell if people were revived, you cant predict how many tickets the other team has, whoever boasts about kills will have their moth shut, OR they will say "i killed about 9001"... either way, i dont give a fuck bout someone elses, or mine killcount, but rather focus on minimalising the deathcount of me, my squad and my team.
+1 for realism effect
+1 for being less CoD like
Also, i understand what you wrote. Im just saying that next time, try thinking abit before making a post, and dont include a negative point, just because it looks nicer if you point out positive and negative aspects. And there arent any negatives, if the goal is to make the game more realistic. If exploitation was the goal of the game, then ofcourse scoreboard removal would be unwelcome.

Guys, this is a development thread.
To discuss the removal of the kill counter please visit this thread.
Leave this for questions/help about the implementation.
Thank you.
How does the ingame scoreboard looks like now?

Re: [Code] No ingame score
All I did was point out two things that may or may not effect the community, that is all.. Would we still keep the points up for the squad? or could the scoreboard be turned into something completely new like an additional utility? Just wondering the engine limitations because the only limitation I do know is that it is more or less impossible to implement fast ropes

Re: [Code] No ingame score
it looks the same as before just alot of 0s instead of the real numbers. i tried changing the scoreboard to get rid of the greyout death indicator, but from what i see (with my limited bf2 mod understanding) the data that gets onto the scoreboard is hardcoded.[R-DEV]BloodyDeed wrote: How does the ingame scoreboard looks like now?
also i understand how the timer works now and got it to work to update the scoreboard every X minutes. imo that would be the best compromise between currrent system and no score at all.

How much to people rely on these icons? What if we remove them completely (making all icons blank)?Mats391 wrote:it looks the same as before just alot of 0s instead of the real numbers. i tried changing the scoreboard to get rid of the greyout death indicator, but from what i see (with my limited bf2 mod understanding) the data that gets onto the scoreboard is hardcoded.
