Been almost a year since I last played. Still going hard?

Post by Schneids »

I was away on a sunny vacation for a while, but I'm back and would love to get into some more tactical gameplay rather than the fast-paced BF3 (not that it's bad, I just feel I need some tactical realism for a bit now :D ).

I used to play on Tactical Gamers' server all the time, and use the prMumble. I'm updating my PR now so I couldn't check on the status of their server, but I can't connect to prMumble. Was there a new version of that as well?

I guess I should go start searching for answers myself, but any help is greatly appreciated

There is a newly released version of Mumble, Mumble 1.0. It's fully automated but read through the thread by yourself.

Download-link is in that thread.

They do, it is more populated later in the night, EST. It is also heavily populated on the weekends. There are a bunch of other good servers out there too, you should try NwA and CIA.

Every now and then there is a 128+ player server, it's pretty awesome.

TG is kind of "dead" and not regularly online. During the weekends you see it coming up from time to time but the general quality of the servers has severely gone downhill, even that of TG. You might get a bit disappointed :D

Alternatives are NwA, CIA from what I've heard and the 128.

However, TG is still the best server around once it's populated. There are basically about 45 regulars that play on TG and they take up the bulk of the server. The new mumble makes the TG experience 100 times better.

Sure but its rarely up and the regulars are hardly seen anymore (means sometimes less than once a week).

Couldn't agree more. There's nothing more satisfying than joining TG, as you know you'll always have a great game with proper teamwork.

Got two servers on NWA if you fancy insurgency or AAS. Don't agree that the quality has gone down, rather the overall population on some servers.

Well, not always, but most of the time. Shit can happen in every server.
I'm sad that nowadays TG doesn't show up in my PR Deployment server list.

What we (TG) could really do with right now is a dozen or so (more) guys willing to spend a couple of minutes each day getting the server going. We're not dead, but it's a bit hard for the same crew of ten or so players to spend hours trying to populate the server day after day after day - frankly, it gets boring fast.

If we got 30 guys to simply join the server for half an hour at, say 8 PM EST every once in a while, we'd be seeded in less than an hour, guaranteed. The payoff's worth it, believe me.

I'd love to help as would others in the 10th, but real life has been kicking our asses.

Take me for example. I used to play almost everyday. SL every round and admin the server. I then changes jobs and playing more than 1 day a week has been a struggle. Heck I have a 400mile commute to work right now and as such I am only home Friday and Saturday nights.

I get the server up and running every Friday afternoon and Saturday am.

My story is all too common at TG right now.

Want an indicator of the global economy picking up? Check to see how many older PR players are active.

That all said shock is spot on in reguards to keeping the dream alive at TG. It only takes a few guys a short while to get it populated. We have a dedicated admin team available close to 24/7 as well as a new set of admin tools. Both combined lead to a dramatic improvement in server stability and play.

Give us another chance. I'm sure it will be worth it.

I'll have to check out NwA and CIA then. I used to play solely on TG because as you guys said, there was always the regulars on and it was so much easier playing with people you know (well..sorta know :D ) because you start to remember everyones strengths and weaknesses, good commanders, good pilots, etc etc.

And as Cougar said, I specifically remember him on a shitload and it was great having admins on that you could trust and would actually help with anything.

thanks for all the replies guys. Hopefully I can back into PR as much I was before

I would NOT recommend Hardcore. You will get steamrolled if you are not on the H team.

Haven't you seen that the server didn't exceed 10 players since they got their license back

It has been a good year or more since I have played too. I love PR, but the 1.5+hour long matches and the crashes halfway through just got to me. Lately I have been having some withdrawls.. might have to come back for a few rounds. and see what I've been missing.
Best line yet...

I was suggesting a server not to go to. For the TRUE PR experience is with Mumble and on either TG, PRTA, or CIA.(I'm american so I gotta stick with my US servers XD aside from the 128 :D )
