I agree with Psyrus,
also
while testing, you can enable audio through your video card HDMI connection if you have any speakers/receiver that has hdmi in,

Re: ultimate 64 bit complete computer freeze
Gentlemen, we have found the cause. I have played a few rounds, and there was no freezing up. I think its safe to assume my realtek onboard audio card is the cause. So, what now. I can't play without audio.
Anyhow, many thanks to the pr tech support, and Psyrus for figuring it out for me.

No probs. I tend to pop up in threads where I'm pretty certain of the solutionLongHairedHuman wrote:Gentlemen, we have found the cause. I have played a few rounds, and there was no freezing up. So basically your options are as follows:
- Get a USB based headset and bypass your motherboard audio-device (but render your current headset useless for PR)
- Get a USB in-line soundcard to accomplish the same as the above but be able to use your current headset
- Get a new soundcard like a Xonar DG/DS or so
- Experiment with various Realtek drivers from their site or the wastelands of the internet.
And a note to the tech support guys who are doing a fantastic job:
Given the comprehensive nature of his first post, I think the Realtek device should've been hit first in the troubleshooting checklist. It'll save you heaps of time in most cases ^_^
- Strange connection problems resulting in being kicked the lobby = Ask if they have a belkin router and/or get them to turn off intrusion detection and their firewall temporarily.
- Strange BSOD/system freeze during gameplay = Ask if they have a Realtek based audio device
- If they have a strange system freeze that doesn't crash the computer, check if they have crossfire graphics cards

Re: ultimate 64 bit complete computer freeze
Right, I'm thinking this card, any other cheap card that should work?

Re: ultimate 64 bit complete computer freeze
Right, new sound card, and PR runs just fine.
New problem. This time not with PR though. My microphone doesn't work anymore.
I now have A ICIDU 7.1 PCI soundcard. It has the CMEDIA CM8768 Chipset.
And yes, I have:
the correct drivers
put the card in the right slot correctly
have the microphone cable plugged in correctly
Any ideas?

Re: ultimate 64 bit complete computer freeze
Starting with the simplest fix,
shutdown all applications that use a microphone.
make sure microphone is plugged in correctly.
go to Control Panel->Sound_>Select the "recording" tab, and make sure your new sound card input mic jack is selected as your Default Device.
Open PRMumble and go to settings,->Audio Input Tab->select Default Device, click apply, Open Audio Wizard and see if your mic works,
--------------
Another option, go to Device Manager and make sure your RealTek Device is completely disabled or uninstalled.

Nope, didn't do it. And my on board sound card has been disabled trough BIOS. Might be overkill, but better save than sorry.[R-COM]LITOralis.nMd wrote:Starting with the simplest fix,

Audio output works properly?
To test, You can plug the mic or something else into the blue jack, "generic line in" and test it in the Windows Control Panel->Sound->Select Audio-In Jack as default , make sure the card can accept ANY type of audio in.
Drivers and software available here, PCI 7.1 Soundcard - Soundcard - Audio

I tried it, but nothing special happened whatsoever. I might add, when I plug in my microphone, in the MIC in port, I hear a crackle trough my headphones, could that be a clue towards what it might be?'[R-COM wrote:LITOralis.nMd;1741935']Audio output works properly?

Re: ultimate 64 bit complete computer freeze
There is some software that comes with your soundcard driver installation package.
Open that up and see what is available under the "recording" or "audio in" tab.
You might simply need to enable mic or increase the software controlled 'mic boost' or something like that.
If you plug in your mp3 player /stereo/tv or something into the blue "line in" and start playing something on the mp3 player/stereo/tv and you do not get any audio coming out of your PC, and then you plug in your mp3 player /stereo/tv or something into the green "mic in" and still get no audio, you might have a "Dead on arrival" sound card.
You might want to reboot, enable the RealTek audio in BIOS, then proceed to boot Windows, in Windows, manually select the new audio card as the default for playback and recording default devices. See if that helps.

It is set to on, as you can see.
EDIT:
Ninja'd
EDIT:
Just fetched a line-in wire from the mystical dusty dark cyber forest better known as attic, and my phone plays trough it like a charm! I shall test if my microphone actually works on a other PC, and it didn't somehow break when I put my sound card into my PC.

Re: ultimate 64 bit complete computer freeze
Well, it appears that, what is the chance, my microphone somehow broke when I changed my sound card. My father modded a small device, which emits a high tone, that transmits trough a audio jack. The sound came trough loud and clear, and the mic-in seems to work. Somehow it doesn't amaze me that my microphone broke, it is held together by tape, after all.
My apologies for wasting your time with the microphone issue, as I clearly could have figured it out on my own, I am sorry.
And again, thanks for helping me with my sound card, the new one I have works fantastic, and the software that came with it even has a equalizer, so I can enjoy my metal & classic rock with an even higher quality.
I'm glad this tread can finally be marked as solved, and be locked up for later use.

(P.s. As a additional thank you to this amazing community, I might even improve my modeling skills, and model a Mk. 19 automatic grenade launcher, but no promises on that one, I have exams coming up!)
