In CS, "skill" mostly consists of knowing the best way of bunnyhopping in circles, being pro at quickscoping your AWP, etc. The skill in CS is mainly physical, while the skill required in PR is more of a strategic type.

Although physical keyboard-mouse talent is a plus in PR, there's a great deal more demand for players who are able to think on their feet strategically, making informed decisions within their squad as well as in coordination with other squads.

PR is about working together and using teamwork to accomplish a relatively large number of complex objectives, which is arguably more challenging and more rewarding than knowing how to mash your keyboard for a high K/D ratio with extra headshots.

I agree completely with you. This is what I'm trying to say but it's impossible to explain to all the PR fanboys

I'm not going to create a new discussion Nessie, but what you've been saying when it comes to this matter is that PR does not require any kind of skills.

2) PR is not a fast paced close-combat fps like CS, ping doesn't really matter. I'm in California and I play on Euro servers all the time, and the ping doesn't cause my player or my bullets to lag.

That being said, I recommend PRTA servers as they are solid w/ teamwork. I hear good things about CIA as well, wouldn't recommend wasting your time with TG, as most of them shun Mumble, which really is a great mistake.
LOL? Have you played on the server? About 99% of the people are mumble without getting forced.

Yep. TG was the mumble community for the longest time, only with the introduction of the new version of mumble did any other North American servers even really consider it. Now with the new warn/kick script a lot of servers have completely changed their policies concerning mumble, CIA being one of the servers that finally saw the light and now embraces mumble for its awesomeness.

I guess TG comes off as one of the less hardcore mumble servers as no one is forcing anything except proper play and respect, but that has been part of the server appeal from square one.

For a new player I'd also try play some Co-op to get your feet wet. Of course the issue is that the only good Co-op server is Veterans Gaming and they use the hard to find 0.95 map pack (they offer it at the VG website). It's a good place to learn as the run all the working Co-op maps and enforce deployment level of gameplay, yet it's more forgiving of new players (due to the way Co-op rules). No one will yell at you for using a tank (non-soloing a 2 man of course) as long as you say your new and ask for help (in some deployment servers people will want your head just for sitting in a tank the wrong way).

One thing is being "on mumble" another thing is using it properly if you get what I say. //remark end

Welcome to forums, and enjoy your game whichever server you choose. Since ping is not much of a issue unless its above 250ms Id say you will be fine on Euro servers too.

Learn the basics in 64p games, and then you might try 128p servers, like Sisu, or hop in the fire and join the tournament right now. There are still few free positions to fill.

More info on TART. Register and signup. You can read more about it on forums here.

If you need any help ( technical ) we got yr six covered in Support section.

]CIA[ Acemantura here,

I know nothing about you except you are actually taking the time to post on this website, a place usually reserved for those who like a healthy dose of tactical teamwork. Also, you have come form CS:S.

Based upon these two Observations I would recommend Tactical Gamer, because in my experience 80-90% of the time I found it to be well organized and very lean in a team's execution of objectives. I make this recommendation not because I do not like my server, which by no means is the case, I make this recommendation because I think you want to experience more of a mil-sim style of game play, otherwise I do not believe you would have posted here.

My server on the other hand, ]CIA[ Kokan & Hookers are for those who would like to relax a little more and still have a healthy dose of teamwork, though admittedly not as refined as I have found on TG.

I recommend you take the time to experience TG first and see whether or not you like their rules, their admins, and especially their way of playing (which will hopefully include Mumble 1.0)

Once you think you have experienced their style in a suitable measure I then recommend you come over to our server and see how we operate and then choose. Hopefully my members will have taken leadership positions as infantry squad leaders, which usually guarantees either a win for the side with my members or a terribly exciting game if we are on both sides. ( I miss SL'ing on Ghost Train so much.)

I hope I was of some service to you and your search for teamwork.

Peace

Exactly how I feel about it. When I want the feeling that the other guys on my team know exactly what to do and will do it 100% of the way, then I go to TG. TG has a set of regulars that number between 40 and 50 depending on the night. These regulars know their stuff and seem to have the same passion for good, coordinated teamwork as I do. CIA has come a far way in improving their quality of gameplay on their server. CIA, to me, is exactly what Ace said, "for those who would like to relax a little more and still have a healthy dose of teamwork."

The choice of which server will be yours, but I feel that choice will come far down the road, after you have picked up the gist of PR mechanics.

One more remark if I may.

This is not server feedback thread, so use appropriate places meant for that. Discuss the basic stuff he will need to start with, not quality of teamwork on specific servers.

There are many not known or not popular servers that have teamwork beyond any mentioned pubbing sessions on mentioned servers. Where he will play he will decide, based on his criteria not populist opinions.

Of course recommendations are welcome, but not deep insights. This thread should not serve for that.
