How the hell I can get every guys on MUMBLE?Some troubles from China!

Well, as the biggist PR community in Asia.
Chinese community has very large amount of players which nearly reached 500 last year, and the it's still growing now.
However, Even we have two full servers everynight, Some guys and me can not really enjoy the combat.
Reasons are below:
Everybody in server seems not work as a team!
Too much time I've seem a sq leader with a hat or sniper kit camping and left his sq members wandering in the battlefield, who were trying to kill somebody then got killed, gave up, and go on......
Lack the sense of Coorperate and duties make chinese server fall into darkness, or in Chinese we call:"打酱油"
（It means never capture or defend a flag, just stick with non-basic kits and enjoy killing.）
Here is another fact: Even servers is full of chinese players, our mumble channel is empty except me.
No communication at all!
I have to admit, some of Chinese PR clans are wonderful!
Skilled players and willing to communicate only by typing Chinese Pinyin.
But as those clans went with history, the soul of PR is dying in China.

I've tried to introduce MUMBLE to those guys in servers many times, but they find every excuses.
My friend translated MUMBLE after the first version realease to help the guy with language trouble.
Only less than 20 men have it.
I don't know it's because of our culture: "Unwilling to change" or something.
I do hope Chinese server with tense combat and coorperation!

I love play PR in CIA or TG server.
It's awesome! Real combat !
Their mumble channel is aways full of ppl.
I am really considering about quit Chinese Server and having fun in North America server.

If you guys have any idea to help Chinese Community out of this trouble, plz post your opinion, and save the dying soul!

Buy a server and put mumble auto kick on it your only choice.. I'm not Chinese, I'm Canadian so I cant really help you sorry man. And best of luck to you

I am one admin of Reality China server.
The folder of the server don't want those players go to another server, which we treat each other competitor.
Keep the server full and make the game tense.
I am not going to make a choice.

Did had a nice round in TG. Burning Sands, oh yeah!

I agree. You say there's only 2 Chinese servers, and roughly 500 in the community, I wouldn't worry about losing players. You've just gotta make sure you get the message out that mumble is being enforced.

Start by changing people.

First, you gotta have a forum that's visited frequently by players. Or a regular circle at campfire if you prefer.

Second, translate some posts about Sqaudleading, Commanding and Teamwork in general from this section of forums. Introduce them to the idea of teamwork and how It changes the game. Actually, all it does is changes the mindset (psychology) of the player. Some say players are hardcoded. It might be true, but I believe that there are some lost souls between those hardcoded that can be enlightened by reason and nice examples of how easy-to-do teamwork can solve a lot of problems and can be a much more interesting experience than lonewolfing and playing without any coordination whatsoever. A tacticool PR video (ask you know there are lots of them in u-tube) with chinese (i don't know which one you speak, but I'd presume it's Mandarin) subtitles would be great.

Third, when you got their attention and people are acknowledging teamwork as an essential part of PR experience, than introduce Mumble with all it's benefits in the same manner - videos, posts.

Fourth, enourage leadership. To be a basic squadleader in PR isn't that hard. Almost everyone with some people skills can do it. Basic squadleading is like being a shepherd - keep your sheep together, ask them to follow you everywhere (on and off the flags, for beginners), deploy rally points for fallen sheep to be able to spawn on his squad and, of course, assigning them special kits (medic, AR, etc.). That's it. How to encourage people to squadlead? I have no idea actually.

No. Simply because new players dont even know what Mumble is not to speak of PR Mumble. Enforcing it will just make the server empty if he kicks non mumblers.

Just even if they do ( players ) agree to download and install it, what is the use of it, if nobody is actually using it to communicate in game, but just hang there for not to be kicked out of the server.

You need a forum, you need to translate PRMumble to Chinese if its not, and you need to explain to the people why is using it better then not. If you fail to persuade them, then you failed. Simple.

Grab some tutorials from forums here, or guides and translate them, post them at your forums. Make strict server rules, introduce squadless kick, resign one man squads, make asset rules etc...

As new players join they bring bad habits. Your role as a community leader is to set the direction and tone of how the game should be played on your servers.

If that means keeping your growth slower by removing players who don't play to the communities expectations by not doing it right then that's a sacrifice you might need to consider. I'm not saying ban people immediately - but give them the chance to learn the errors of their way... but some people just won't learn.

The effect is that you aren't constantly taking on nubs who don't want to learn and you'll have a strong player base who will be able to help you set this tone.... New players will be forced to fit in or they will get bored or banned. Last thing you want is to be seen to allow nub behaviour to set the tone as good players will look elsewhere.

Servers who have a fantastic repuatation for good teamwork don't happen overnight - and they don't happen without hard work. And even then remember that your population changes - so it's an ever ongoing cycle....

You have quite a task ahead of you if you want to move Chinese players to PRMumble.

I suggest you consider translating Mumble 1.2.4 in to Chinese. Mumble | Free Communications software downloads at SourceForge.net

I am looking through the Mumble support forum and it looks like the Mumble1.2.4 installer has been translated to traditional Chinese already. SourceForge - mumble/mumble/tree - installer/Translations/

You can volunteer to translate the main Mumble client and Murmur server software to Chinese here:

As others have said above, the server administrators must create a sense of community and camaraderie both in the game, and outside the game in a online forum, to get people to want to communicate with strangers.

Whoa plus one for drama . You could try to show them some youtube clips of well coordinated PR gameplay (dont tell me its blocked, we all know its just "blocked") eventually they will want to have that kind of gameplay too and that might entice them to try out mumble and make more use of coordination.

If some players prefer to forego PR in favor for call of duty or BF3 or similiar games, then thats just what they prefer. I am sure with such a large potential there will be 500 chinese on a regular basis who love PR.

The problem is, those players just ignore me or keep silence, they act as they don't care...

BTW, our server has two different IP address which makes some guys live in north of China unable to auto join the channel. I guess this might be a potiential barrier.....

Any way, I am trying hard, but once I have lost my cool, I'd rather stay in U.S server.

I tried mate.
Yes, it's true. Videos attract guys join in, but it doesn't work in Game.
You can search Youku, and there are many videos about PR, including db's and Savage's video.
You know, those video just attract new, do not good on coorperate.



Edit: Youtube is blocked off by Chinese gov, I have to use some tool to break that firewall then get something useful.

Can you explain why exactly are those people from north using that second IP. Why Dual IP server at all? Cant you use just one, and make all connect to that one particular IP?

Two different companies dominate Chinese network.
One dominate the south while the other control the north.
If our server is a"single line" one, and located in south, those guys in north will have some trouble connecting the server or have a super high ping etc.

If there are really 500 players with only 2 servers, and you're an admin on those servers my suggestion is to take the idea of PRTA and give free reserved slots to people who are on mumble. With 64x2 = 128 slots open, there's a potential ~4:1 contention ratio (meaning 4 people fighting for the same server slot)... if people knew they could get a sure spot just by joining in mumble, I think it would help to encourage Mumble use.

Do you have a community website like TG, BigDor CIA? You can see on the bigD main page they are promoting mumble use heavily lately (which can only be good for the server).
