[Solved] CRASH TO DESKTOP HELP

Been playing PR for a long time now and have had alot of random problems in the past non sinse my new laptop which i got a few months back heres my latest problem i require help with, got home from work this evening started up PR joined my server entered game and after about 15 - 30 sec the game randomly crashed to desktop no error message on the map ramiel i decided to rejoin the game and give it another go same thing happened again, uninstalled pr and re installed it tried again to join the same map it crashed again decided to join a different server/map to see if it was a problem with that map had the same problem lowered graphics same problem cant understand it was working fine last weekend and all the other weekends and help would be much appreciated!

Have you changed your antivirus, firewall, antimalware software?
Have you changed any drivers?

Go to your ...Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr folder and open up prError.log , scroll to the bottom, see if it gives you any error messages and info. If you find anything, post one or two of the log entries here.

Windows->Start-> type in Event Viewer, open event viwer, go to system events, see if anything occured at time your PR crashed. If you find anything, post one or two of the log entries here.

FYI: If you uninstalled and reinstalled you need to defragment once this is figured out.

I almost have the same specs as you. I have a 550M and a i7 2670QM and 8 gigs of ram.


I suggest finding the new update for your graphic card driver:

Other than that try updating windows and restarting your computer. I have in the past forgot to do that aswell. And a restart helps!

Sorted the problem i uninstalled all bf2 and pr programes deleted any left over files and also deleted the 3 pr install files and downloaded them fresh again however kept the bf2 patches as i remember them taking ages to download i then defragged and shut down.
Reinstalled bf2/patches/fresh pr files.
launched the game and kept getting programe not responding on the initial launch black sand studios page, hunted around in the pr folders and found the error log (which i did not know about previously so i dont have the initial error log sorry) and i had this error:
System.ArgumentException: The directory name C:\Users\GARY\Documents/Battlefield 2/Profiles/Default is invalid.
at System.IO.FileSystemWatcher.set_Path(String value)
at i..ctor(String A_0)
at k.a(String[] A_0)
from there i followed where it was trying to go noticed the files wernt there decided to use my head and realised i need to run bf2 first and retrieve my account so it can make them files and tadaa its working jumped into a game for about a min and a half no crash seems to have sorted it unknown as to what caused the initial problem will play for longer tommorow hopefully it wont crash seemed ok when i jumped on a min ago.
