Too much ammo?

I rarely run low on ammo, not because there's too much, or that I don't know how to play, but because I alway start thinking about getting more when I have 4-5 mags left. I plan ahead so I never have issues unless I'm getting routed.

Suppressing fire will make you keep your head down when it never stops. Try playing Helmend Fields (0.95 Co-op mappack) with bots on high settings. You have a hard time not being suppress when 6+ bots fireing on full auto are attacking. It really makes you put your head down when you can be hit by the sheer mass of rounds fired (the bots walk while fireing from the hip, yet they still kill at range when they have AKs).

I scavange ammo from every single rifleman-kit i come across and basically never run out of ammo.

One thing I never get, is why do the INS have 5.56 ammo?(In other words, their ammo patch can fill up a M4/M16/C7 etc.) I suggest that the ammo bag be side locked?(7.62 AK ammo can't be used for a M4 as we all know lol)

Also there is just enough ammo. Comfortable yet right on the limit in combat. Youre not firing enough if you dont use it up.

I thought this was Project REALITY, yes, I know that realism has to be sacrificed, but in order for more immersion/reality to take place, have the bags side-locked. Do you see soldiers grabbing AK bullets for their M4s? Also Imo it feels as tho a soldier can go into battle with practically unlimited ammo. It will force squad leaders to have a rifleman in the squad. but as of right now, the Rifleman kit is useless. "Hey you run out of ammo? Oh, just go at that dead guy's AK, pick it up and grab the mags/bullets out and you're good to go!"

The only time I seem to be running completely out of ammo (usually I dont fall below 2 mags) is when using the supportive MEC kits. Seriously 4 mags? Arent they supposed to be an army not some sort of weekend warrior militia

Its good when you hit someone. For suppression, different calibers dont do any difference and that is another thing PR lacks. Its all about ROF.

Normal USA kit = 270 rounds (9x30 5.56?45mm mags)
Normal MEC kit = 140 rounds (7x20 7.62?51mm mags)
AK-47 kit = 210 rounds (7x30 7.62?39mm mags)

270-140= 130 more rounds for USA kits

Or in other words MEC kits have 51.8518...% of the ammo of USA kits. Seems a bit lopsided to me.

30 round 5.56 x 45mm magazine for M16/L85: .46 kg / 1.02 lbs.
20 round 7.62 x 51mm magazine for G3: .792kg / 1.742 lbs.
30 round 7.62 x 39mm magazine for AK-47/AKM (assuming newer aluminum): .66 kg / 1.45 lbs.

USA/UK/CF Rifleman: 4.14 kg / 9.18 lbs. (9 magazines / 270 rounds)
MEC G3 Rifleman: 5.54 kg / 12.94 lbs. (7 magazines / 140 rounds)
AK-47/AKM Rifleman: 4.62 kg / 10.15 lbs. (7 magazines / 210 rounds)

4 mags is ridiculously low. No matter how you put it. FFS cops in '91 were carrying more mags than that and they didnt even have proper logistics

Unless there has been a mistake in coding, G3 support kits should have 5 magazines (1 in well, 4 stowed). 5 magazines (100 rounds) was the field manual basic load for a NATO 7.62mm battle rifle at the time of their issue (M14, G3, SLR). In PR, we give basic load to supporting classes with more magazines to the rifleman classes, since the infantry tend to carry more.

7 x STANAG Magazines (210 rounds): 3.22 kg / 7.14 lbs.
5 x G3 Magazines (100 rounds): 3.92 kg / 8.71 lbs.
5 x Aluminum AK Magazines: (150 rounds): 3.3 kg / 7.25 lbs.

Still not seeing a problem here. There are reasons that NATO made the 5.56mm switch, and the fact that you could carry nearly twice as many rounds for the same weight is one of them.

I wasn't really saying it was wrong, more that the 5.56mm weapons just get such a great deal more rounds. I found the 100+ difference was rather dramatic, but figured the wieght issue, which I didn't have stats on, made it still true to life.

This is a perfect example of why bigger isn't always better when it comes to round size.

Running out of ammo probably means you're not killing what you intend to, as rifleman kits are generally rather abundant and will resupply any weapon. You shouldn't have too hard a time using your 100+ rounds to kill one rifleman in order to rearm, but it does arise and gives another great sense of urgency to your situation...which adds to the realism factor greatly imo.

Less ammo = more anxious moments where conservation of ammo and conservation of life go hand in hand, a situation that doesn't arise nearly as often as I'd like (even if it's happening to the squad).

Ive done weight calculations some time back and MEC riflemen are carrying more than any other rifleman in the game.

Realism: Serving soldier^ says there is not enough ammo.

Gameplay: Relative to individuals, I think there is too much, but don't really care tbh.

My only gripe (problem) with the current ammo levels is that it encourages people to shoot badly. Not the end of the world though.

i'm not saying there isn't enough, i'm just saying there's never too much. in game i only ever run out on rare epic occasions, and i like it that way. if PR was always at that level of intensity it would become boring over time. anticipation counts for something.

This argument is mostly personal preference. Whenever I play I find myself throwing down ammo bags for EVERYBODY. People not even in my squad. It could be from you dying often with tons of ammo left, or you are just not shooting alot. If you never run out of ammo, I say good for you. I probably shoot more things that look like enemy then the actually enemy itself. So I'm always low on ammo when I need it. I know I'm a scrub.

guys the russian HAT gets two rounds and the american one gets 1, obviously the russians have a huge advantage.
