Have you been changing monitors lately? Maybe switched from CRT to LCD or vice versa?
Open My Documents and go to Battlefield 2 directory. Locate your profile folder and post contents of video.con file. You can open it with notepad.
Secondly you can delete your shaders cache located in My Documents>Battlefield2>mods>bf2>cache so delete anything you find in that folder. See if that helps.
Have you updated your DirectX to latest? Download: DirectX End-User Runtime - Microsoft Download Center - Confirmation
Do you have Net Framework 3.5 SP1 installed? Download: .NET Framework 3.5 Service pack 1 - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details

Easyest way to delete complete Battlefiled 2 folder in my documents and then run vanilla BF2 retrieve your accounts, adjust settings and join MP game, make sure it works fine. Then run PR.
Moderate way is to locate you video.con file and edit it manually. Its in My Documents>Battlefield 2>Profiles>000X
Inside those there are files called video.con so open each one of them and edit this line.
You can edit it with notepad or any text editor.

Code: Select all
VideoSettings.setResolution 800x600@60Hz-

More info on advanced way to fix this:

4 ways to fix this:
1.
Go to Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles , each profile you have has a separate folder, 0001, 0002, etc.
Open global.con and see which is your default profile and make note.
Mine:
Quote: GlobalSettings.setDefaultUser "0004"
Close global.con
Open the appropriate folder.
Open Video.con
go to line #9
Mine:
Quote: VideoSettings.setResolution 800x600@60Hz
Adjust to your settings, idk your correct refresh rate (the @60Hz part ),
to look it up, right click desktop, Select Screen resolution, Click Advanced settings.
Click the Monitor tab, and then look under Screen refresh rate,
2.
Create a shortcut for PR on your desktop. Either make a copy of your current one, or find the pr.exe file and right click->send to desktop.
Right click the new shortcut icon... add this string to the end after the pr.exe"
Quote: +restart +szx 800 +szy 600
Mine is:
Quote: "C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe"+restart +szx 800 +szy 600
note where the quotation marks are located, they must be there.
3. Third way is to delete the Profiles folder, but don't do that if you don't know or can't retrieve your BF2 log-in password.
4. Fourth way is to create a batch file on desktop...
Quote: @echo off
start "" "C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" +restart +szx 800 +szy 600
exit
save the batch file and use the batch file to run PR.

Tried deleting profiles completely and running BF2? Do not interchange monitors in this process use the one with 800x600 res if thats the one you plan to use.
Btw what are your monitors supported refresh rates?

Are you retrieving account from vanilla BF2 as I said? It wont work from PR.
Updated DX9 and Net Framework 3.5 sp1 installed? Reboot at some point?

And? Still nothing?
Check if your profiles folder or video.con files are not set to read only.
If nothing of above wotn work, use this command line in your shortcut for PR and BF2.
Adjust to your target path do not copy-paste this!
