[Solved]loading maps? - Desura install
I downloaded the ~ 4GB file from desura.com, which is supposed to simplify install. After the install, I could find PR:VN maps in my server list but could not play because apparently, the map files were not installed in my computer. Any help for me?
Thanks!
Thanks!

It seems like you downloaded the full PR:BF2 install. You will also need the separate PR:V addon.

Hmm, I downloaded the PR:V addon and during the install phase, it says I need to download PR-BF2 0.973 but it is already downloaded... Do I have to do it again (ie download PR:BF2)?
Thanks for your help! How do I differentiate PR:BF2 maps on the list of BF2 maps?

IDRick, you must launch Project Reality by it's .exe, not BF2. Do not launch BF2 and then try to join PR, you must launch PR.

Desura has an issue with version detection, requires manual fixing.

thanks for the heads up! I thought was following directions correctly. PR needs to fix this. I don't mess with my registry and will be uninstalling. Sorry. Looks like it could have been a fun game...

Good point. I did try launching PR directly as well as launching with BF2. Had the same result with the VN maps not found when attempting to join a VN server. I think I'll stick with BC2-VN and BF3, they work just fine on my machine.!Pvt.LHeureux wrote:IDRick, you must launch Project Reality by it's .exe, not BF2. re: [Solved]loading maps? - Desura install
Yes, yes, I understand PR is a well established program. It was mystifying to me that it did not work properly. I am 47 years older than your proverbial 10 year old gamer and usually can make things work. It was a clean, first time install for PR on my computer that did not work. I uninstalled the downloader and the two downloads then reinstalled. Still no maps when I attempt to join a server. After the second install, I could go to each map if I created an off-line game. I didn't try this with the first install but it appears that the maps are there but not identified by the server browser.
Sorry Cossack112, this 57 year old PhD could not access the MP game following the provided directions.... I sincerely tried.

Oh alright, just you used Desure all the time or downloaded from website as well + remember, you have to run BF 2 from clean install once, just log in screen and then PR will work. Sometimes it helps.

I reinstalled the game this evening plus applied the patch. Made it further through the process. There is an error that says PR.exe has stopped working. Doesn't hang the computer but doesn't start the game. Do the dev have another hot fix? I need one....

re: [Solved]loading maps? - Desura install
Thanks for the referral to the official support forum. There was a long thread on PR.exe not working but nearly all the messages were quite old and did not apply. Very disappointing that PR does not play nice on my machine.... With no support and non-functioning software, the handwriting is clearly on the wall, time to move on to much greener/productive pastures.

re: [Solved]loading maps? - Desura install
so anyway, you have to apply the fix in reply #5 in this thread.
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... -97-a.html
Your debug report says you have 32 bit windows 7, so download the 32 bit fix from above link, unzip, right click the .reg file , run as admin. And that should allow you to then install PR:Vietnam installation files you already downloaded. That will have you up and running.
All the fix does is change one key value in your registry:

re: [Solved]loading maps? - Desura install
Thanks for taking a look. The debug report does seem to indicate that I have a 32 bit OS. However, when I click on run, control panel, system, I receive a report that says I have a 64 bit OS. I paid for a 64 bit version of Win 7 and the friend that put my computer together and installed the OS said he installed Win 7 64 bit. I'm positive it is 64 bit. Again, thanks for taking a look and offering a solution.

Then apply a 64bit fix?
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/33586919/pr_097 ... re_x64.zip
And do check if you have Net Framework 3.5 Sp1 installed and updated. It should be on Win7 system by default but wont hurt to check.
People already offered you this solution in the beginning but you refused to apply it.
With all due respect to you age and PhD degree, do as you're been told, and cooperate, or we will not provide any support to you if you continue to play Sherlock here.
PR.exe must be ran as administrator on Vista/Win7 systems and it does require NetFw 3.5 Sp1. Also it is not able to create profiles for BF2, so you must run standard BF2 first, create profile, then quit, run PR as admin, and enjoy.

All due respect, I had done as I was told.... I did not state this in earlier post, but I *did* apply the 64bit fix. If I had not, I would still be sitting on a different error (map not found). I did download and install Net Framework 3.5 SP1. Still no go. PR.exe is not working. I am the administrator for my system but presumably PR.exe must work before trying anything else....'[R-COM wrote:MaSSive;1758398']Then apply a 64bit fix?
