The more favorite servers you have, the slower the login process will be.PricelineNegotiator wrote:While we're on the topic of connections, how long does it take for you guys to log in to PR? About 15 seconds is the standard for me and I've never noticed a difference between connections when I take my laptop or desktop to other places.

This. If you delete all your favorite servers, you'll log in faster.Bufl4x wrote:The more favorite servers you have, the slower the login process will be.

connecting?JimmyKid1996 wrote:Yet, you have problems connecting?
no you should really read the thread first, it's PR only problem and it will 2500 ping me out of a server after awhile and always after a few hiccups of lag pauses
@Priceline, well this has to do with your PC, takes me oh 6 seconds and a few more if i cleared my cache

Okay, than your ISP is the problem. In your previous post, you said you had a ping of 100 to Germany. If so, than how do you lag out at 2500 randomly? Answer = YOUR ISPSmoothIsFast6 wrote:connecting?

from west coast of Canada here, i have no problems with US servers and most EU servers. most of the EU servers are fairly high ping but remain playable for the most part when the servers aren't fully populated. most EU servers for me sit at around 230-300 depending on conditions. some of them sit at 190-220. i usually only play on EU servers of the latter group.

Information in the hands of a critical thinker is invaluable, information alone is simply dangerous.

Re: What's the deal with EU servers?
how exactly does Punkbuster work in the BF2 files? what exactly does it do in a simple sentence? (i'll google this prob)
it got me thinking about it, ever since i use the sound mod i've had no probs except the occasional disconnect everyone gets because of this retarded engine ect.
If punkbuster keeps scanning files while playing what if some file is different but has the same name like the sound files, i was working with some sounds i edited and may have but probably not misplaced something or have a file in there that i forgot to turn back to original. I doubt i did that though but who knows

PB checks all files within the BF2 root folder and all associated with the BF2 connection (such as connection, IP etc.). There is a pre-set timer, which you can change by hand through the console, simply type "pb_sleep 500" (without the quotation marks) and if anything you will gain some time before PB starts stepping on your balls again.

Re: What's the deal with EU servers?
copy, whats the default time every time PB checks the files?
but yeah if it's constantly checking the files and finds a file that's 1kb different but with the same name and reports back to itself but there is nothing for the program to do about it, would it ping the game out like my original problem(in a 2-3 second 2500 ping out time) then after a while of doing the same thing maybe it would just drop my connection because to the german server the connection looks almost gone if you know what i mean, so the server drops me.

The default timer is 20, I'm not sure for which value it stands but afaik it should be something around 5 min.

Comcast user here, I have the same problem; periodic disconnects coupled with having to wait 5 minutes to join again.

yeah, i mean you can try the pb sleep 500 but this issue comes and goes, and i've seen everybody all over the world get disconnects
i tried the pb thing and yeah it would probably help, haven't really had the issue in awhile

Bandwith that can be provided has to do with the Network in realtion to the customers. Sweden, small population, they get 100 Mb/s for change. Germany, large population, you pay through the nose for 50 Mb/s. 8 to 32 is more realistic. Same for US I guess. If they can hook up a billion trillion customers to one line they will.sr.bambino wrote:Yeah US internet does suck.
I get 20-35 mbps and that is considered really good. My buddy goes to a very well known engineering school and they brag about 60 mbps. It's been for a bit that I've been reading that some (if not many) Europeans are getting 100 mbps.
I live right outside the Silicon Valley in the SF Bay Area... why do I not have 1 GB internet? No joke, US internet sucks, especially for the richest nation in the world.
It has little to do with ping though. I see quite a few Ammies on European servers. Are u sure it aint just you? What is your ping to Europe anyway?

That theory goes down the drain when you have to pay "through the nose" to get 8 Mb/s in a country that has less than 4 mil populationCassius wrote:Bandwith that can be provided has to do with the Network in realtion to the customers. OP, who makes your router. Some routers detect the volume of VoIP traffic from bf2 as an attack amd shut the port down.
Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.
The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.
