Out of curiosity i re visited an old suggestion i created a while back on "opening old Bf2 building statics" to create a sort of Interior for the models.

If we looked further into this concept and found a suitable way to make a 2nd version of old bf2 buildings. That would allow the insertion of a new interior model connecting to the original models (doors, windows) and over all contours. or even to an extent Just one room like a Garage space, or an entrance staircase and bedroom.

Since it was already a suggestion back in the past i thought we could instead Discuss the possibilities of this purposeful. as stated by Rhino in the link. It would mean to create new light maps etc, Would the work of allowing the vast majority of the available statics to be enter able out weigh the want for developers and modelers to create New buildings statics with interiors.

so my questions for you are

Would project reality benefit from replacing olde Bf2 statics with updated Bf2 statics with PR created interiors?
and
Would the benefits out weigh the effort of hacking older building statics to create new interiors?

How do you feel on an ability to "ENTER" existing statics with a community created interior?

I'm sorry to say but there is one massive flaw with this idea, with that the main static still has to be edited with opening up doorways at the very least in order to allow an interior to be put inside of it, and if your editing the model to open up a doorway, you might as well have the interior as part of the main building as you've already done the really hard and time consuming bit of importing the static and preparing it to be edited, fixing up verts, SGs, lods, cols etc which by the time you've done all of that, you might as well have made a new building tbh :p

alright its just something that if it were to be done it would help update existing maps gain popularity and create a whole new level of game play. since it would be a hastle to update current models .... is it possible to take the schismatics / dimension from current Bf2 statics and create new statics based on the old ones???
Thus, creating a "new building in the old buildings design"

You're thinking doing something like how they made a new TV station like they did in BF3? So that you would open up an old object and edit it?
I don't really have an idea how all this works though..

Reminds me of this one time at band camp. I made a suggestion about entering buildings. Wake up tied to a pole with a fire at my feet and odd masked people dancing.

Now that I think of it though fixing up or even making new buildings for some of the dated/but stilll fun maps that could use new life would greatly benefit. Specifically maps like Al Basrah, some areas are just so predictable due to a lot of the buildings in the city not being enterable/strategically useful. never really thought of it as maps with enterable buildings being more popular ie. kokan.

It's always been my dream to be able to enter the buildings in Al Basrah to get some CQB combat going or even just give us more places to engage advancing groups from. The more of the map we can use rather than have to go around the more tactical/gameplay opportunities that opens up. Spider holes in my bombed out building, yes please.

Cons probably being the workload and whatever else may come into play.

I honestly haven't even played Bf3 because i know its created out of the whole COD game play ideal. maybe when they start modding it ill get interested.

BUT from what your saying about how they made an updated version of the radio station... SURE even though i haven't seen it.

Create new objects Based on OLD objects dimensions but include the addition of rooms and features.
