Guys, how about we keep 1 thread open for the soundmod. We're running two threads and updates get posted in both. That's kinda ridiculous ;) .

Reopened for one more day, though I really don't see the point of having more than 1 thread, especially since people are double-posting all over the place.

After tomorrow, it's closed again and stays that way.

Anders & PRTA
presents
Anders Soundmod v0.4
An atmospheric realism mod for Project Reality
It's finally arrived! Anders has been working very hard the last few months to give the community the newest version of the soundmod! In this version the emphasis is on the vehicle and environment sounds. Almost every vehicle has received new sounds & all the little details have been accounted for: individual sounds for logistical trucks for every faction, turret moving sounds, reloading sounds, even the sound of dirt crunching under a vehicle, and so much more!Almost every weapon sound since the last release has been improved as well as new explosions, footsteps & bullet hits to give a more immersive experience than ever before.
Try it out today!

Not adding anything that hasn't already been said but I will chalk up my vote.

Most of the sounds are much much better than PR. They are organic, textured, deep and sound like they exist in real worldspace. I particularly love just the sound of yourself and gear and footsteps. The near misses and ricochets sound fantastic also.

But what is up with the sound of your own firearms? I know you recorded some on the range which is fantastic but the recording just doesn't carry the BOOYAH. Hell even a pistol is loud in your hand. Please revise and use the old ones or just crank up the amplitude.

IMPORTANT NOTICE - HOTFIX + NEW INSTALLER
due to a bug with the installer, you cannot enjoy the newest sounds like we intented. If you didn't have the soundmod 0.4 installed yet, please use this link to download the fixed version of the installer.
However, if you had already installed the soundmod 0.4(11/05/12, before 14:00PRT), please DISABLE the soundmod with the Control Panel shortcut, and after that DELETE the serverarchives.ORIG-BAK file in your PR folder(C:/program files/EA GAMES/battlefield 2/mods/pr). Then you should download a replacement for the control panel HERE. And place this file in the same PR install folder. When asked to replace the old one, choose yes.

sorry for the inconvenience,
the soundmod team.

Norton anti-virus deleted the ASM_controlpanel.exe file and now I can't use the mod at all. How do I delete and reinstall. Said it was a security threat using SONAR or something...

Can't turn the mod on or off..

Can't turn the mod on or off..
Delete all folders in your BF2/mods/pr and BF2/mods/pr/objects ending with "_am". These are the sound mod folders.

If your sound mod is enabled, you will have two files called serverarchives.con
and serverarchives-ORIGBAK.con. If your sound mod is enabled, proceed to delete the serverarchives.con-file and keep the ORIGBAK. After this, rename the ORIGBAK file to "serverarchives.con" only.

If you want to reinstall the SoundMod in the future, just add the ASM_controlpanel.exe file as an exception in Norton, or turn Norton off momentarily if this still gives you problems.

Sisu doesn't have the new 0.4 version.

That doesn't matter. It's the MD5-checks that some servers have disabled that allows you to use the soundmod. And that's why soundmod servers are passworded.
