[RMLa] Argentina
Dear Sirs
After consult to the community (RMLa) about the opinion of the minimod and what task can we done, We agree that:
- we like the idea of the minimod
- the support we can give only is for info (some of us posted info already)
We ask you to keep the original name of the ad Falklands (Malvinas) Mini-Mod Announcement - Project Reality Forums
and if can be one of the first testers to see that has been done reliably and respectful. Because this is a sensitive issue for both sides.
expecting that this will be another successful mod for Project Reality
Sincerely, [RMLa] admins and [RMLa] DEVs

Re: [RMLa] Argentina
Hey Alex,
I'm glad you guys like the mini-mod and no worries on the support bit, but any you guys can give is helpful
Main long term project we need is voices from you guys as that is something we just can't do and while some people from your community have talked to me about it, I've only been able to refer them onto Jaymz as sounds isn't my department
For the name, we will put the Malvinas in brackets where ever there is room after the Falklands, like in news posts etc but for ingame map names etc where there isn't always a lot of room to state the maps name, the map/mod will be just called the Falklands as that is what its most commonly known as around the world.
While I agree in the political world this is still somewhat of a sensitive subject, lets please not bring politics into this and we are doing everything to ensure this mini-mod is made in a respective and fun/balanced way that we all can enjoy and will hopefully also give players a better understanding of the war, commemorating all thous who where involved in it
As for being involved in the testing of it, I can possibly throw you an early build at some point before its first release but this mod will be first released in a "beta" state with quite a few place holders here and there which then its down to the community to help replace them with what should be there, as well as overall giving polish to the mod so hopefully some day it can be fully integrated into PR
Cheers!

Re: [RMLa] Argentina
The name of the island is a tricky point.
I live in France and everyone knows it as the Malouines (my wife didn't have a clue what the Falklands was) after the sailors and fishermen of St Malo who used it first, In Spain the Malvinas, but the ISO name is indeed The Falklands(Malvinas).

But as Rhino says we're not here to argue politics just to play and have fun - no?In 1690, Captain John Strong of the Welfare en route to Puerto Deseado was driven off course and reached the Falkland Islands instead, landing at Bold Cove. Sailing between the two principal islands, he called the passage "Falkland Channel" (now Falkland Sound), after Anthony Cary, 5th Viscount of Falkland, who as Commissioner of the Admiralty had financed the expedition. The island group takes its English name from this body of water.[18]

Hehe.... Argentines speak spanish with a remarkably unique accent only shared with the Uruguayans. So let's be careful with who is picked to do the voices.

all posted in the official PR Event section. Plus just checking prspy of the server list would have also given it away. You shouldn't feel so attacked. Over 100 players joined the test everyday , it's not like it was a secret

Our accent Spanish (Castilian) is very special and also differs from the brothers of Uruguay.Panzerfire wrote:Hehe.... Argentines speak spanish with a remarkably unique accent only shared with the Uruguayans. So let's be careful with who is picked to do the voices.
We are studying the possibility of reproducing the voices in a studio, we need to know the format (ogg or wav) and if all voices are in the folder C: \ Program Files \ EA GAMES \ Battlefield 2 \ mods \ pr_edit \ common_client \ Sound \ English?

Wow LuchoLavalle, if you are serious and can pull this off, that would be great!
You need at least three (good) voice actors, because there are 3 voices - normal grunt, Squad leader and commander, iirc. Also pilots and crewmen have some specific voiceovers, but these are said by grunt voice i think. Not so sure about this stuff.
Maybe [R-DEV]Rhino could point you in the right direction?

Re: [RMLa] Argentina
[quote=""LuchoLavalle"] Hi, my name is Luciano Lavalle and i would like to offer my help.
I?m Argentinian and i?m looking forward for the release of the mod "falkland war" but i?ve noticed you guys don?t have Argentinian voices, i think i could help. See i have a recording studio we bought with my band and i would be more than happy to help. I could record every line you need in less than a day with a top quality condenser mic.
In case you are interested, please respond this message.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Have a nice day![/quote]
Hey Luciano,
Ye we are in pretty big need of some proper Argentine voices for PR:F.
matias16739 was planning on working on some POC (Proof of Concept) Argentinian voices but haven't heard anything from him in some time. Might be worth sending him a PM on these forums to see what he's up to before you do anything, if you don't get a reply in a few days then just assume he's not working on them anymore
But ye the plan was for him to make a few voices, such as "go go go!" and "Medic!" and then send them over to me to ensure they where up to standard before proceeding with making them all encase there was some flaw in the sound which would make them useless for us. I would suggest you to do the same as its best to only have to remake a couple if they are not correct in some small way, rather than having to redo them all
And ye as Lucky said, you need three (3) good voice actors to do three different types of voices, Grunt, Squad Leader and Commander, each having their own set of voices as the grunt doesn't need to request supplies etc.
[quote="lucky.BOY""]Also pilots and crewmen have some specific voiceovers, but these are said by grunt voice i think. Not so sure about this stuff.[/quote]
Those voices are part of the normal Grunt, SL and Commander collections, in the same way when you have a medic kit you can only use the "Medic over here" or w/e voices.
\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Common_client.zip\Sound\English\ with in there a folder for each type of voice, Grunt, SL, Commander (ignoring the Help_VO folder), then each of thous sub folders having a Filer and No_Filter folders (filtered ones sound like they are coming over the radio, non-filtered ones are said from the mouth to players close to them).
Although you may need a translator for all of them, to translate them from English to Spanish or Argentinian but all the file names should be in English to correspond correctly with the code
Cheers!
