Info Request on RUS AK

Post by srg.kahuna »

hey guys ive been playing PR for a long while and recently have gotten into firearms. Im working on a new Arsenal SGL-21 ak-74 clone. (Arsenal Russian AK 74 Rifle SGL 31-62) in keeping with my tradition of keeping guns as realistic as possible (and similar to the in game PR guns) i was wondering what scope the russian army ak's use in game. I cant seem to find it anywhere online. i have found the old PSO scopes but they have a completly different recticle than the ones the russians use in game. So if anyone knows anything about the scopes in game it would be greately appreciated.

PS if anyone wants i will post pictures of the collection

Optic aren't realistic. For Russian army - very rare stuff.~98% of all troops do not use scopes on AK AFAIK.

Every British soldier that deploys has an optic, either ACOG or SUSAT, fitted to their weapon. However this would not create balance within the game, although it's called Project Reality there has to be some balance.

That's why the Russian forces in PR have more scopes than are issued in real life.

Doesn't matters.Scopes for AK - bad idea if you want be realistic.
I also believe in "balance" in PR.Well remember that great holywar about rename Project Reality to Project Teamplay, cuz they never be close to reality.Unique rare gameplay - yes,Reality - no.

^ What the person above me said. The game is not realistic, it's about the teamplay.

In Russian army used PSO-1 with the AKM (7.62) and AK-74M. Another sights used basically Russian police special forces which prefer Acog, Aimpoint and Eotech.

I always felt that the forces PR depicts are the "cream" of their respective armies, being equipped with the latest technology and such. Not futuristic, per-say, just first in line for the newest and best vehicles and weapons their country has to offer.

EG the Russians would get vehicles like the T-90A and BTR-82 even though they have way more T-72s and BTR-80s.

You are right, in Russia really use old tanks T-72A, T-72B1, Т-72B (M), Т-80B, Т-80BV. T-90 was not used yet in real action. My favourite tank is T-80, but unfortunately the policy "kills" him.

First:Majority of AKMs do not have side-mount.Only SF versions AKMN like have side mount, even first generation AK74 do not have side-mount.
Second :P SO used only on SVD-series and VSS Vintorez. But this is 2 different scopes, with different grids.
Image
1P29 - universal scope,used there,where accuracy isn't so necessary.Like AK/RPK with side mount.
PSO-1 MAY be used on AK,but that doesn't means thats thats really uses.I saw a photo, where one guy put SPP scope(Used on NSV 12.7) to AK :)
Third:Quantity of such scopes very, very small.

About SF uses non-russian scopes - true.

I saw army scouts using the AKM with a PSO and the assistant of the sniper with AK-74M/PSO.

Personally, I think the balance offset of scopes, and lack off is so negligible, it would be worth it to remove scopes from russian kits besides officers, or something. Maybe give them an extra marksman kit available or something.

Also, russian T72s would be a neat way to add balance to maps, too. Like, for example on iron ridge adding a T90 and T62 to the AASv4 layout would be imbalanced, as the T90 would slap the T62 with too much ease, but 72s vs 62s is a lot more fair of a fight.

How so? Just because the T-72 has no ATGMs? They are virtually useless in the woody environment. Also, the T-90 takes a shitload of damage from the ground texture and minor bumps, the T-72 would do nothing but to give the RAF even a greater advantage.
