Any Arabic speakers here?

Post by mr.hanky »

Hi, I have been part of this community for a long time but I have been inactive on the forums. I lost the info to my other account, so I'm not new to the forums. I'm also a Palestinian American, I'm wondering if there are any other Arabs active on this forum? Perhaps we can get together and form a community, or even replace the VBF2 Arabic voices... (I wish).

I have seen you many times. The problem is that BF2 somehow loses my account names. So you always see me as, mr.hanky something. That and I can't play PR much while I'm at school.

This is what I'm thinking: I know for a fact that in this community we have a lot of Pakistanis, Indians, Arabs, and etc. However, they are not organized. What if we got together some Pakistanis and made Urdo voices for the Taliban? I know it is not their main language but it is better than Arabic lol. Or if we organized some Palestinians and gave Hamas some Palestinian Arabic voices? But we gotta get organized first!

Pakistani's are not Arabs, Heureux ;)

Anyway, in regard to the OP, I study Arabic languages, specifically Egyptian-Arabic and Modern Standard (written) Arabic. Though far removed from the level of expertise a native-speaker would have, if need be I might be able to contribute.

Removing, nay - pardon me, replacing the idealistic (Gamal `Abd inNasser truly would be proud to see the way all islamic forces depicted in this game speak perfect Modern Standard Arabic, suggesting the acme of Pan-Arabism and a pretty damn high educational capacity in the countries involved), though highly unrealistic arabic speech we have now would just be a dream come true.

Salam!! This is great! How would you guys like to form this community? Should we start off with a small FB group?

What I really think PR needs is less formal Arabic voices. To be honest, no Palestinian is going to speak formal Arabic when Israeli tanks are shooting at him.

that was actually the point I was trying to make, no Arab soldier for that matter would speak formal Arabic (= Modern Standard Arabic, as you of course would know) anyway, except perhaps for the military Jargon.

It would be great to have some different Arabic dialects, like Palestinian Arabic for Hamas, and for example Egyptian and Syrian for the MEC, to underscore the multinational aspect of the MEC, so that on one map the MEC speak Egyptian, and on the other Syrian, thus making the MEC unique. Though this is of course just a bit over-ambitious for now.

I always found there could've been done more with the MEC, it has a unique position in the game, being an alliance of countries, each having very different uniforms and weaponsystems. Instead of creating a sort of generic compromise (western small arms, russian armor etc.) this multinational aspect could be focused upon, thus making the MEC appear very different on each map, having western equipment and vehicles on the one (representing Egyptian or Saudi armies) and Russian on the other (representing Syrian or the old Iraqi armies). Most weapons and vehicles are ingame already and would only need a reskin.

Ah well, I might very well be going too far for now, but I'd like to hear other people's thoughts on the representation of Arabic and/or other islamic factions ingame and the potential improvement thereof.

Ahlan (Hello!) all!

I'm Australian but my blood is also Egyptian, so I speak abit of arabic. I play PR under the name "Icantfindabettername" but now I don't as I gave up on the game.

I actually showed my mum the arab voices in the game and they are understandable. I like the arab forces more than the american ones.

My favourite is the Insurgents, and also I like Insurgency too.

Salem!

The MEC chatter makes me laugh. For example, KOMBULA means bomb not hand grenade. But in the heat of battle that would not matter XD For what I hear I think an Arabic community within PR would be great, in the coming days I will probably start by opening up a steam/FB group. If we get enough people we may get ourselves a teamspeak :)

I'm reviving this threat after seeing the Arabic in the Karbala map lol.
There are a few things we need to decide:
1. What to call our group?
2. Where are we going to host this group? (facebook, steam, etc?)
3. Playing times and etc.

I've heard the same thing about the IDF and German voices.
