I've had great games on all maps. That said; some maps, like Qinling, is just better played with the 128 p and above modes.

Sadly true : people wants to play the same maps over and over. We tried a "ONLY NEW MAPS" server with a good ping for the europeans ... the desert. Put on Muttrah ... server full.

as a server admin, map vote is a blessing and a curse. i think everybody would agree that playing on full server is fun and playing good, large map on half populated server sucks. lately i have seen a trend with map vote. out of 64 people you get maybe 50% vote participation, and once the map changes to the one chosen by the vote, you end up loosing half of the population. mainly people who voted for something else would leave. nothing wrong with that, people wanna play something else, i get it.
part where i love mvote is when you have good balanced teams, usually a good map is voted in for both sides to slug it out. overal....mvote=good thing. my 2cents.

I think it is good some of the maps aren't played that much such as Kozelsk and Iron Eagle, why? Because it is boring with regular teams. Muttrah, Kashan are both just great maps offering different battles everytime so why should we stop playing them? Some other maps are often deleted from the rotation because it causes lots of CTD's. So maybe we were never able to experience them well. And other maps are just boring as hell, even with good teams and lots of teamwork.

That is why I have a wonderful plan! What about doing a custom map contest where there will be a contest where we can choose which community map will be put in the next update, this will motivate the mappers and will probably fix this problem if the maps are chosen because of the experience it gives and not for other reasons.

And by the way if they just put the PR:V maps in the roulation and roulate the AAS maps with some INS maps and different layers (The fun ones) you will get some more diversity. Where was the time that we played Kashan, Fallujah and then EJOD? A few years ago.....
We are staying up!

I think Bronk was sarcastic. I mean Muttrah and Kashan are like the most repetitive maps (from > 1km2) when it comes to gameplay after all. At least I hope he was.

What, really? I stopped reading your post after this sentence. The two maps you've mentioned are probably the most linear ones, playing out basically always the same every single time. Sadly, thats the point, people don't like to think and rather play the same stuff over and over again, till it becomes standardized automatic playing, without the necessity of creative thinking. After becoming accustomed to something, its hard to get through with a new, or not so well known thing.

Gents, we have 33 maps with numerous layers each. Name another game that gives you 33 maps. And that doesn't include Normandy and the 3 PR:V maps. So what gives... and yes, dtacs it is insulting to the mapping team. Not every map can be everyone's favorite. If that was the case, we'd have 33 Muttrah's and you'd be complaining about that too. Also, there are some maps that are best for scrims and more organized servers. That doesn't make them bad.

That's just my 2 cents... but seriously, 37 total maps and you guys are still complaining?! Amazing. How about a few "thank you's" instead?

On a more positive note, over the next few weeks we're fixing bugs and making adjustments to some existing maps, so if you have feedback that you haven't gotten around to submitting, please do so at https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f253-v0-97-maps and we'll see what we can do.

Thanks

You misinterpret what people are saying. Nobody is complaining about the number of maps, more of how there are only a handful of acceptable quality to be constantly replayed and still be fun. Statistically the longer time spend mapping and more attention to detail creates a better map; Rhino spent 2 years on Muttrah and I assume you did the same with Shijia, which is in my opinion the best map in the game to date.

All in all the opinion of the community as a whole can be turned into a factual system: certain features breed certain gameplay that attracts people. Muttrah has a very Karkand-esque system of head on combat in an urban environment whilst still having dynamic potential of the Marines going behind MEC lines. Shijia is in bare essence a playground with combat-friendly hotspots (Paddies, Train Bridge, GB Supply) and tons of cool shit in between that makes walking very rewarding. Infantry combat in Old Town is inexplicably good.

Regardless, the developers should never take to heart what anyone says about the game anyway. Create what you want how you want it and take feedback with a grain of salt. You shouldn't need the thanks of the community to feel rewarded, there is ample satisfaction in creating a product [MULTIPLE products] so fucking great that it puts mainstream games to shame. Its very existence serves testament that its terrific in its own right. Threads such as these are pure shenanigans, discussions of trivial perfection.

No matter what the map is people will still enjoy themselves.

Whoever says at the end of the round "Omggggg not Kozelsk (Or any other map), that **** map, im off!" is insta retard in my eyes. Such players are the derp ones degrading the teamwork quality and are no better than simple cod kiddies seeking action.

I played cods and yes, it doesnt get boring... ever. Because it requires no thought.

I dont understand this hatred toward Kozelsk. Its one of my favorite maps and had some pretty memorable rounds here. Actually I love all the maps with the russian faction and think there should definitely be more. Maybe some people just arent skilled enough to use the ak47 idk.

It can be scary being a server admin and selecting the next map.

I have seen many times a good big 4km put on at the wrong time, it kills the server. I am the least of a 128 fan you'll ever find but I strongly believe most 4km maps play better with a 96 player cap otherwise there's too little inf and too much travelling. Plus many 4km maps become to dull if there is no trans available either no one wants too or battle loses.

Many rarer maps ex/ ochamchira/kozelsk/ can empty a server unless it's peak time.

What I'd like to see:

A 96 player cap server running 4km maps (all)
A 64 server running all 2kms
A 64 running insurgency only

That way people can choose what they want any time, assuming all are filled and admined well ofc

Those such as yourselves who want to play obscure, often unplayed maps are a small minority. If you don't think this is the case, go to the forums of TG, H, CIA, HOG, PRTA, NwA etc and suggest that they remove the voting option and have an all-maps rotation.
This unfortunately...Muttrah.

All maps rotation would not work, not a chance.

As was said above, you choose the wrong map at the wrong time of day, and the server dies.
That said though, I'm finding that when I run mapvotes, we are getting quite varied maps, although, yes, Kashan, Black Gold, Burning Sands and Muttrah are all played a lot.

Hi, maybe someone can assist.
I am trying to download version 0.0957 which includes the Hills of Hamgyong and Midnight Sun, both of which seem to be getting some air time lately.
The problem is that no site I located on a Google search has the 0.0957 download !!!!
Any suggestions ?
Thanks heaps .......

Thats what i am saying the whole thread... it should be mandatory in the PR server license. All server would have random map rotation. Ok, you dont like the map, tough luck... all other servers with your favourite map full? Oh shi, you better stayed on. People need a slap in the face to realize something, its interwebz. Now when they have a choice, they will ***** about it.

We are using such a script not only for PR. Our player from FH2 asked for such a script because of every day the same rotation. Someone said, "I am starting FH2 it is about 3 o clock and what is running? Sam map as every day". Thats why we are using such a script.

And like you say, it would push the other maps. The developer did a grate job with the maps and they arent played. For PR we are generating a maprotation with 12 maps in it and every day a new one. Same in FH2 only with some more maps in the rotation.
