POST YOUR THOUGTHS ABOUT THE BF2 DEMO.

Post by GABBA »

Well when i finally downloaded i was so damm stooked. after some little problems i finally registered my *** and headed of to the battlefield.... BAng im on this huge aircraft carrier and i say "ohh look a cool plane".

i get in the plane and i am shcoked by the way the hud performs and the chopper wasn't as bad as i thought. i also like the way you change your weapons from singel or automatic,

other than it WAS AWEOME *drewl*.

Fun stuff, I already played it, but not with so many people. So I created my own squad within the Marines, and flew taxi with the BH for like 5 games. It's pretty neat, got a lot of assist kills, flag caps and landed people on some unaccessible roofs. The best being I landed my BH right behind a sniper on this very high tower, my whole team jumps out and start pumping a ton of lead in this poor fellow, needless to say he got "ragdolled" out of there :D

the helciopters are ok. the hud inside the cockpit is fantastic but when it comes to the handle i think it's a bit heavy.. you need alot of power to get it of the ground but other than that its good...i love the sam site that heat seek onto target's beautiful......

try download from another soucre, my download went perfectly... but game tends to freeze every once in a while, i dont know if everyone is having this trouble or is it just me??+

i also find that the squad system is way neglected. i was on a 32 player server and my side only had 1 squad out of like 6 possible squads.... honestly i forgot myself that the squads where there, but after that i got a good squad and tried to get some good teamwork going 8)

no no no .. it takes like 4 seconds to power up. i mean when your flying low and have to suddenly pull; it takes time to get the nose up. most of the time i crashed the chopper into small hills that i didnt get over soon enough..

you've got your finger down on the "w" key trying to get some altitude and then splat

I'm really surprised by how many people simply avoid being in a squad and how many of those who do join squads are so eager to be led. I had 5 people join my squad within minutes of starting one. I gave out commands, they were followed... and these weren't AI soldiers, these were actual human beings.

There's hope for the BF2 community yet!

I think Oman is missing some elements in terms of gameplay. There's only one real path for infantry coming off the first CP's towards town. Any other route and your armor/sniper fodder.

I'm really getting a kick out of everyone's reaction to the demo. I've already played BF2, so the awe and joy isn't on the same level as though who are new to it all. It's really cool to see folks enjoy themselves. :)

Dre as far as people avoiding the squad i think there just seeing what the gameplays like first most probably dont think to join a squad

as far as the demo is concernd it rocks, the gameplay was amazing not a bit of lag when i turned stuff down which was diasppointing but if im lag free even and low graphics setting with full resolution i wont conplain (even tho i should cause my system should be able to handle it   )

it looks like DICE made a pretty solid engine i didnt notice any real flaws, after the first 2 or 3 hours you get over the flashyness and it almost seems boring but then you realise the hole time youve been play youve gotten NO lag and you think man if this isnt gonna lag at all with all these amazing details and great models this could be an amazing game

i reckon the thing that defines the game the most is the heat seeking missle's. ya air to air, ground to air. those missles are just fantastic. I can't wait to keep into some bigger airspace....I'm surprised of the number of people who don't fly, Ive tried too have a go and now im reall comfortable behind the stick of a chopper or plane......... Some players raelly like kicking their commander in the ***. i had a go of commander and within 10 seconds people were voting to have me off. toobad i stayed 8) .....i racked up so many kills with the artillery, ya see a groups if enemy soldiers and BAMM. they all die

you could have the most advanced system set up for teamwork and that, but it all depends on the poeple you play with..... if you go to a lan with a bunch of mates you get things straigth at the beginning " rigth im the commander and you obey my orders"."sir yes sir".....

i like following orders and giving them  .. Some other poeple just dont their job. A supplie guy was running around and not "SURPLING" any ammo, im keying in that i need ammo and this *** just walks away.....

YAY. i brougth my first dead person back to life with the defribulaters. BOOYAH

The planes are a whole load of fun now that you have the ability to switch between bombs and missiles. Low-level dogfights over the city are great fun, nothing beats dodging buildings while you watch the HUD for the missile lock. Strange thing though, was it just me or did anyone else notice that you drop your complete load of bombs when you press the trigger?
The few games I played in that had proper teamwork going were fantastic and the commander mode is lot of fun(even if I did end up with a score of -20 thanks to one squad not holding position and getting torn to pieces by my arty attack on a hostile outpost).

Initially impressed. Looks good and runs well on my relatively modest system, but have had some CTDS and a couple of reboots whilst playing. Went online and tried the Jolt.co.uk 64 player servers and it was very laggy, which lots of people seemed to be experiencing judging by the whines on text.
The squad management options are nice and simple, whilst seeming to work and the commander seat is a hoot. ;)

Sniping is dumbed down, on easy at least, I mean, just point the dot at your target no matter the distance.

Also, it takes a ridiculous amount of ammo to kill an enemy...

But holy cow, does it look great or what? Even with the sort of square shadows you can see sometimes. That must be something with the AA setting conflicting with settings I have the ATI controlpanel. I get a similar error in good old UT when I fiddle around with the D3D settings and AntiAliasing...

Damn, I like this demo... Wonder what will happen when I get the full game...... :P

Alright so after having downloaded a 2nd time, on my Home PC lastnight. I left it till this afternoon to try out BF2 so I would have some time. First I started as Spec. Ops., 5 seconds after I'm spawned... (playing singleplayer with bots mind-you) I want to get into a humvee which is driving away from me to hitch a ride, I get near the rear right wheel. And die. :?

I'm like.....ok if this is how we're starting out this game....I'm gonna really suffer when my preorder arrives.  So after respawing my first action was to check out the sprint. nice feature, and I somewhat like that you can't side step while sprint which means you have to be aware of whats going on around you before/when you start running. The jump ability is moon physics as stated before. As for close range kills, they definatley improved; but seeing as I was having comp issues both this morning, etc, and still ongoing. The map and everything else looked very cartoony, (since BF2 set all my settings to low) so it felt like playing a cartooned version of Desert Combat. The one particular detail I really like is the shock effect when near explosions or when on the way out (dying). Other than that, I can't wait to see the game in its full glory when I get my new video card. Ans as stated before, there is lots of items that require PR to edit. But hey thats why we're here.!

I absolutely love the way ground vehicles feel now. Between the great engine & chassis sounds (like when you bump into things), and the much more refined phyics, it really feels like you're driving around in a 2+ ton vehicle, even with the hummvees. And they handle so much better.

The one thing I hate though is how easy it is to accidently team-kill. Back up in a tank without knowing there's an infantry guy standing behind you and it's 8 points deducted from your score. Ouch! I even had one instance where I was piloting an MEC attack chopper and my gunner decided to bail out at the wrong moment. I hear a "thud" on the chopper... teamkill! :o It's going to be real hard to avoid teamkills if they can happen like that. :?

Yeah, I had a few of those too, not the best thing to happen. I've only been in the heli's up till now, with some infantry (but only if I was commander). I'm just enjoying transporting people to land or making a gunner shine.
