Some of you guys take this game way too seriously. Its a game. Show a kill counter. People count their kills in real life too. Just imagine the score screen represents all the paperwork you'd have to fill out.

Hard to not care about one of the favourite and only games (mod) on market that can give such amount of immersion and teamwork. For some it's a passion and hobby, for some just game they play occasionally. Bringing "stop caring that much" is quite weird, especially when you look how many people can do for their hobbies (cars, books, music, sports, etc.). Actually the more caring people the better for mod (see Wicca and his PRTA idea). So let's stay on topic here and do not go into "it's just a game". ^^

And in real life they walk up and count those kills via their own eyes. Not a magical portal that displays them.

It seems people are getting a little confused, the reason we don't want kills to show up at all or right away is because right now you can just tab to see if you killing people or killed someone, or figure out things about the other team that would normally not be possible or require risks and strategy in the game. I know I am guilty of looking at tab ( Way way more then I should) to see whats going on with the other team or to see if the squad we just thought we killed is really dead. We don't want to to take out kills just because we want to be uber hardcore or anything. I would really love to see it at the end only, or at the very least not show who is dead or not on the other ream, ( Except for all the problems that might cause for admins.)

in real life a guy blown up by a granade will not magically be restored to his full health in a few seconds and then hunt you and your squad down...

the kill counter helps in this sense...we know the guys is waiting for a medic ... so we keep looking for the remaining enemies.

But if you are going to take out the kill counter at least let us burn the bodies...or make the guy scream or breath heavily so we can hear if he is alive or dead. this way we can look for his teammates in the area .

It does work, but you won't get your kill before the person you've killed has spawned in again.

AFAIK when the guy you shot down is DEAD you get the score more or less instantly.
So I think you get the score once the guy presses "give up"...not 100 % sure though.

No. Only when spawned, that's why it's common tactics to observe your kills and check if enemy has medic nearby or the squad is wiped and respawning.

EDIT:

The only exception is when you have killed someone at the end of round, then kill is added even if he hasn't gave up.

What happens when the person you killed leaves the server ? You get the kill after 5 minutes ?

As far as I know you get kill just as he leaves, not really 100%, but I would give my pinky for that nevertheless. :P It's easy to check anyway. :P

I think that it should be shown only in a squad counter.

For example:

6 members squad:

-Player 1 0 kills
-Player 2 3 kills
-Player 3 2 kills
-Player 4 9 kills
-Player 5 0 kills
-Player 6 1 kills

Total: 15 kills

Then, only should be shown the total of 15 kills in this squad.

I like having the K/D Ratio, it sorta adds more into the game too.. Usually for my squads if our K/D goes negative it means we're doing something wrong, and therefore we need to work a little differently to regain that K/D.

So we sorta use it as some sort of head-up system.

I dont see why that should be removed it would just sorta ruin it for some players I reckon

A revisit to the fantasist thread. "there's no kill counter in real life", lol, you don't fight wars on a PC in real life.

I made a point in the player decline thread about this. Personally I'd jazz it up and create stats, good stats too. Lots of stats, stats for individual weapons, damn it I'd put shots per kill ratio for sniper and marksmen kits.

I know some of you Tron Guys won't like the idea, but I bet you a pretty penny it would bring folk back playing. I'd guess too it would encourage players to play better if the stats highlighted cooperation and teamwork.

What was the K/D for the Americans on Omaha Beach? I bet it was horrible, but still they took the objective and capped out the Germans

What I want to say is: sometimes a few sacrifices do wonders. In the end the objectives decide, and that's why I would like to see the K/D gone.

Yeah because D-day was also a 32:32 battle. And they had tickets and stuff.

I feel I need to stress it once more at least.
It's the intel that points, kills and greyed-out foes give you I oppose. I honestly see nothing wrong with showing players awards of their actions. It's just and only the way it is being presented what is wrong. I don't want to know whether enemy squad has already given up just by looking at scoreboard. Neither do I want to know if mortar shells I fired hit a FoB. etc - see my previous posts.

Simple solution: ADD A DELAY FOR POINTS AND KILLS: 5-10 MIN
also: enemy team's scorechart should be invisible or at least there should be no difference between a living and a wounded player visible. (currently wounded/not spawned/dead-dead nicknames are gray)
