Project Reality is probably the least entertaining mod available for Battlefield 2.

Post by Stikku »

Where to start with this game?

Jeeze laweeze what a mess!

1. Poor performance issues, even on lowest settings possible in comparison to vanilla BF2 without much of a noticeable difference in graphical quality.

2. Hyper-sensitive Helicopter controls with Joystick.

3. Unique bug to Project Reality where parked or landing/landed air vehicles do somersaults for no reason and explode immediately.

4. Q- Communication Rose can't seem to decide whether the message should be broadcast over a radio'd global chat, or local shout, or even a global shout (Voice of God!).

5. Being able to enter vehicles that require a crewman/pilot kit, but only seeing a black screen if aforementioned kit is not equipped. Then being killed by the flying spaghetti monster if you don't exit the vehicle. (Project Fantasy more-like!)

6. Not being able to ride as a passenger in a helicopter if you have a Pilot Kit. Killed Immediately by flying spaghetti monster.

7. Horribly anal and immature community that will kick for the following extremely simpleminded reasons:

7a. Not using mumble. (Would help if Pr Mumble automatically connected to the Mumble Server hosted by the PR server. Would also help if most of these servers that kick for not using mumble at least had the mumble information in the MOTD/anywhere in-game)

7b. Have someone lie about you. (e.g. Wasting assets, when not actually wasting assets.)
^^^^^^unique to HOG server^^^^^^

7c. Not using mumble. (I'm listing it again, because the only reason that mumble is even necessary is because the Communication Rose has been gimped beyond belief. The community also doesn't know how to type very well either. And I guess VOIP is too hard for them to figure out.)

8a. Getting hurt from a 6 foot fall.

8b. Dying immediately from an 8 foot fall. (I wasn't aware the military allowed people suffering from Brittle Bones Disease to serve)

Really, my complaints are few and they partially involve the servers who host, but so far - the only redeemable thing about having played PR are the people over at the =]H[= HARDCORE server. Coolguys who don't kick on command.

The scope of this mod and it's execution both add up to a gigantic 4 gigabyte headache of poor decisions.

(9. The fucking weird cryptic messages obviously written by someone with severe psychological problems that pop up while waiting for a map to load.

Some of the messages are informative, others are insightful, even more are obliviously obvious, but just a few are just brain-damage psychofucked.)

Aight, peace. Gonna go play a game that sucks considerably less. (Battlefield 2)

You will not be missed. I could address each of your points, but I'm actually on my iPhone whilst taking a dump at work.

Someone will be right with you, enjoy a magazine whilst you wait.

You probably didnt even read the manual. Or ask anyone for help.

Just stick with BF2, its much more suitable for you IQ.

Youre like a child who reads a book, notices the words are not in his vernacular, and then deduces the book sucks because it doesnt fit his needs, rather than it's simply not for him.

Op, can i ask you a question? do you browse a certain imageboard's video game section?

your rhetoric is familiar.

Wow I must say that he hasn't looked at all the hard work the DEVs have done and look at where this fantastic mod started off and everything that has gone into it. I think the DEVs have done a excellent job with this mod and it is getting better and better along with the community, I think that with this mod you just need to open your eyes and see what the experience that is being brought to us (community).

You are such a freaking idiot. I read the first line. Didn't read more. You are not worth our time. I'm glad your leaving. You have no desire to be apart of something actually special and different in this bullshit generic **** first Person Shooter Genre of this generation.

Before you all enforce his opinions, conform to the stereo typical image of PR he has in his head, lets help the guy out.

Some of the features that you don't like or as it seams don't under stand, makes PR a team work essential game. Every thing that you don't like, when mastered makes PR stand out way above every other one man army run and gun clone **** out there.

To me you seam used to killing shit getting perks and power ups, try playing the mod as if the players you playing with give a shit about you and you them. From that base line mindset you will 1. Get more enjoyment. 2. Get help on how to play and the mechanics of the mod and 3. May be make some friends and kill some shit as part of a TEAM.

1. Poor performance issues, even on lowest settings possible in comparison to vanilla BF2 without much of a noticeable difference in graphical quality.
This is a 6 year old game. If you cannot run it well even maxed, get a new computer. Otherwise, keep on tinkering with your settings.

2. Hyper-sensitive Helicopter controls with Joystick.
You just do not know how to operate a helicopter in a semi-realistic game with different controls. Don't be so touchy. This isn't arcade.

3. Unique bug to Project Reality where parked or landing/landed air vehicles do somersaults for no reason and explode immediately.
Your own fault. Learn to pilot. Don't land so rough. Jesus Christ to people even PRACTICE anymore?

4. Q- Communication Rose can't seem to decide whether the message should be broadcast over a radio'd global chat, or local shout, or even a global shout (Voice of God!).
It's random. What of it? Who cares? HONESTLY?

5. Being able to enter vehicles that require a crewman/pilot kit, but only seeing a black screen if aforementioned kit is not equipped. Then being killed by the flying spaghetti monster if you don't exit the vehicle. (Project Fantasy more-like!)
So? It organizes things. You won't have an M1A2 tank operating pilot a freaking Apache would you... Also, get the right kit, or you won't be operating it. Stop bitching.

6. Not being able to ride as a passenger in a helicopter if you have a Pilot Kit. Killed Immediately by flying spaghetti monster.
This was added because idiots were using the pilot kits to bail out of the helicopter and parachute behind enemy lines. This isn't special forces.

7. Horribly anal and immature community that will kick for the following extremely simpleminded reasons:
Your own fault. Follow the server rules or be kicked. Not our fault you can't follow rules.

7a. Not using mumble. (Would help if Pr Mumble automatically connected to the Mumble Server hosted by the PR server. Would also help if most of these servers that kick for not using mumble at least had the mumble information in the MOTD/anywhere in-game)
Okay so if you need ammo, commo rose could help, but if you get scattered with a bunch of blue guys, or your whole squad goes down and your only the last person alive. You see a patrol, it's your guys. What are you going to do? Follow them blindly like a retard? Come on grow up I'm sick of the Mumble arguments. Plus, again, going back to the server rules, FOLLOW THEM OR GET THE BOOT! DON'T COMPLAIN FOR YOUR STUPIDITY/INABILITY/INCOMPETENCE TO FOLLOW ORDERS. Oh yeah, and Mumble does EVERYTHING for you...Just launch it, type your name, THAT'S IT! Once you join the server, you automatically get put in that channel/squad (That's if you join one.)There is virtually NO REASON to ***** about Mumble.

7b. Have someone lie about you. (e.g. Wasting assets, when not actually wasting assets.)
^^^^^^unique to HOG server^^^^^^
Maybe you took a humvee by yourself. That is wasting assets. Maybe you were flying in a city needlessly. Again, I have to /facepalm at your retardedness.

7c. Not using mumble. (I'm listing it again, because the only reason that mumble is even necessary is because the Communication Rose has been gimped beyond belief. The community also doesn't know how to type very well either. And I guess VOIP is too hard for them to figure out.)
The commo rose is not gimped. It's refined/better than the original. We do know how to type. It's called you have international players. Players from all over the world that for some of them, English is not their first language. Give them a break.

8a. Getting hurt from a 6 foot fall.
Only true thing. But you are wearing over 50pds of gear.

8b. Dying immediately from an 8 foot fall. (I wasn't aware the military allowed people suffering from Brittle Bones Disease to serve)
Most likely it's there so you don't jump off a freaking building and live, but the devs are tweaking it and trying to make it better. Nothing is perfect.

Really, my complaints are few and they partially involve the servers who host, but so far - the only redeemable thing about having played PR are the people over at the =]H[= HARDCORE server. Coolguys who don't kick on command.

How ironic that you pick the ONE server that has had the MOST drama with the Project Reality community...(Even got their server taken down...)

The scope of this mod and it's execution both add up to a gigantic 4 gigabyte headache of poor decisions.
I'd say it's a hell of a lot better than 90% of the shit shooters we have today...

(9. The fucking weird cryptic messages obviously written by someone with severe psychological problems that pop up while waiting for a map to load.
That would be the tips. Stuff that YOU SHOULD READ because it gives you oh I don't know, TIPS ON HOW TO PLAY?

Some of the messages are informative, others are insightful, even more are obliviously obvious, but just a few are just brain-damage psychofucked.)
That would be the devs trying to make a laugh, which is. Every time I read the Rambo tip, I chuckle, because it is true, YOU ARE NOT RAMBO.

Aight, peace. Gonna go play a game that sucks considerably less. (Battlefield 2)
Good Riddance. Go join the massive amounts of fail and derp and brain-dead communities of other fps's.
Your entire post is fubar. Leave. Don't ever come back until you gained some maturity and some general respect.
