Is this one still under development?

Post by Pronck »

This up-armoured humvee was posted 3/3,5 years ago and we still haven't seen any updates on it. This seems also for other models and vehicles but this one seems to be in a very good state to be finished in one year. So I want to know if it is cancelled. And maybe it is something to show the community what you guys have cancelled in the past years. When you look throught the DEV posts you often see "almost" finished vehicles but only 1/10 of those vehicles has actually been implemented. So is it possible that we can have list on the forums what you guys have cancelled, not only so we know what not to expect but maybe some community modellers can take it over if possible.

So that is the reason to not develop or highlight it for over 3 years? Seems BS for me.

I've asked about this and the m14 EBR a year ago and received a similar avoidive response. They would still be in development yet not a priority. With the m14 EBR there were some technical problems involved though.

its ready when its done.

stop pretending like the dev team owes you something, they are doing it for free and in their free time.

what i mean is either be patient or if you want stuff done inquire about it and do it yourself cause im sure the team is putting in all the effort they can

Well since when don't we have the right to ask questions? I understand that they are doing it for free and in their free time, but I don't say it has to be finished but I want an answer. And I also proposed to give maybe community modders the possibilty to finish. I can't model but maybe there are people that can and want to finish it. See it as a whole and not as a rant.

PS: Stop saying it's ready when it's done, it is not a valid answer just plain-old avoiding.

This is a private forum, I'm pretty sure you have the "right" to do exactly what the owners of said forum deem acceptable for you to do, which may or may not involve asking questions.

And looking at your posts, its not so much that you are "asking questions", but more that your attitude is crappy, you come across as confrontational and entitled;

Sorry if i came up as harsh but sometimes i get the feeling the community doesnt value the work the team is doing in their free time and for free.

in response, you can ask questions of course but too me it seems that those questions would have more weight to them if you are willing to learn and finish it yourself. I think that the dev team as a whole including the community moddelers are busy with real life, social commitments and working for pr and that they cannot work on pr everyday or are asured of making a deadline headon.
unless a new guy who is good at moddeling comes around and says ye ill take the job.

My main point being, the dev team can use every help they can get, you see something unfinished and you want it in the game real bad, try and help out.

For me personally, im gratefull for whatever new things the devs gives us. but im sure not gonna hassle them about it if it doesnt make it in the new realease.

Also about the ready when its done part, i dont think the devs has deadlines that come down to the day, hour, minute. it is a valid response for a team who does stuff in their free time where social commitment, study work is also in play.

PS: i got to agree with web cole, asking if stuff is done after three years and then suggesting to let others ( community moddelers) do something you want ingame with out attempting too contribute yourself comes of as douchebaggery

Sometimes, you have to accept the fact that it's not as important to them as it is to you. Yes, its in development, and a low priority, but would you rather see a "fixed" INS mode? or a completely new faction?

People becoming curious in an almost aggressive fashion is probably the most obvious effect of a dev team taking the "When it's done" stance. If there aren't constant updates about every little weapon and vehicle adjustment fed into the news every day, there will be posts asking about them.

I'm not saying that I want anything from the devs, but whenever I see people shitting on the requests for information, because "when it's done, that's why", I can't help but think that the people doing the shitting are the problem.

I think these are perfectly valid inquiries, and if you like the "when it's done" style of development, and are ready to treat people like idiots for questioning it, then you may as well ignore these threads.

Maybe what we need is a "development bar"
Like the Dominos Pizza website after you order a pizza.
You then have a progression bar as the "development" progresses along..
Just joking of course..

You need to calm down with the attitude.

Please remember that PR is developed by real people with job/school/university/family/other commitments in their spare time. No-one gets paid for any of this so naturally things take a little longer than might otherwise be the case.

Regrettably, this also means that some items take a lower priority than others, for example where we have a reasonable asset already in place.

"I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end... "

now to be fair i would love to see this in-game now but that's the same thing with EVERY OTHER THING IN DEVELOPMENT. I'm sure i would be more happy to see the priority tasks in-game first.

Section 6: Project Reality Rights

The forums are a privately funded, privately operated, unoffical, closed community forum. It is not an open public community forum where "free speech" is a right. Our approach has always been, and remains to only intervene in order to ensure the smooth running of the forums or when users breach the above policies. However, there may be occasions where we need to intervene for reasons beyond the scope of the policies listed on this page and we reserve the unconditional right to do so in order to protect ourselves, our users and the goals of the site itself.
