Hello there PR Developers and community members,
I am new to the Project Reality forums and before I address my issue regarding the installation for your mod, I would like to say hello. I currently live in South Korea (Yes I said South, not North. Lots of people on the web cannot tell the difference). I found your mod a few days ago and was fascinated by the complexity of it. However, I did run into a problem when I was installing your mod: the 1.5 patch requirement.
I play my games on a Mac. As a result, I play Battlefield 2 on a Cider Port. The Cider Port itself has been patched to 1.5. However, being a port, the Project Reality 0.973 installer cannot detect whether the installation directory has been patched to 1.5 and informs me the directory that I have selected is not my Battlefield 2 root directory. I have used Wineskin (another porting tool) to install PR. I recall Project Reality 0.91 does not check whether one has Battlefield 2 installed or not. So the question is, is there anything you guys can do to solve this problem of mine? It would be ideal if you developers reprogrammed, or modified the 0.973 installer to skip the whole checking process of whether or not Battlefield 2 has been correctly patched to 1.5. I did check the Porting forums, they do not have anything that might help me.
I think I just threw a mouthful and asked something that would be difficult to accomplished. I apologize. Your mod looks stunningly awesome and realistic, and I would definitely love to play. Thanks.

Re: Regarding 1.5 Patch Requirement
annyeonghaseyo,
welcome to the PR forums.
I understand what you are asking for and personally have never played BF2 or PR over Wine or PArallels or other ports.
I can give you the backgrond info and you'll have to find the solution on your own.
The Devs made a patch to fix a similar problem when it occurs in a standard Windows installation.
Look here:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... 1-5-a.html
Note: There is another registry key that shows the installation directory of BF2 and is also used by the 0.973 installer, if you get a new error saying "Unable to Find BF2 directory" let us know.

for x64 Windows installations, the usual problem is this missing registry key:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2]
"Version"="1.5"
This is the only information the PR 0.973 Installer uses to check to see if the installation of BF2 has been updated to 1.5 or not. If you can add the appropriate registry key in your wine and/or cider port, you should be able to continue the installation.for x86 Windows installations, the usual problem is this missing registry key:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2]
"Version"="1.5"
Note: There is another registry key that shows the installation directory of BF2 and is also used by the 0.973 installer, if you get a new error saying "Unable to Find BF2 directory" let us know.

Re: Regarding 1.5 Patch Requirement
I dont think regisrty fix will work, since Im not sure if emulator creates them in some place.
Simple solution would be to install PR on Windows PC ( if available ) and copy PR files to your MAC BF2 directory. Other than that there is no other possible solution if Litoralis and mine suggestion wont work. There is no alternative installer and I dont think there will be one, since in very rare occasions people play in this way as you do.

Re: Regarding 1.5 Patch Requirement
The other option is to download ORCA Msi editor. But this is not easy, and I'm probably foolish for posting this link cause someone eventually will play with it and break their PR installer and have to redownload it.
WARNING, DO NOT USE THIS IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.
Download: ORCA MSI Editor
With this, you can edit the 0.973 .exe installer, and do whatever you want,
you could remove the 1.5 patch registry check,
spoof the registry check,
override the registry check,
etc.
Not sure if it will run in a port though.
As Massive said, If you have a PC running windows, it is easier to install BF2, 1.41, 1.5 and PR onto it and copy the files to the cider port.
