Then dealwithit.

@Stealthgato: and it will be removed in the first patch because of serious server grieving, cause people just can't behave nice.
Actually our snipers use them on the XM2010, granted the XM2010 isn't in game, but it comes with the xm2010 package.

actually suppressors are quite common for snipers overseas for those fielding .50 cal such as the barret or timberwolf. however the effects of the suppressor does not really make the weapon quiet so much as make it so it wont blow out your ear drums. they are still loud as hell.

@zomba: no they are not limited to SF (depending on nation of course) however their issue is nowhere near standard and are only available upon specific mission requirements for them. you are a front line soldier in PR, as such you have no choice in the matter, no suppressors for anyone means none for you.

they aren't specifically for special ops, but they are specifically for special situations

I will like the sight to be unmountable so you can use your rifle for close combat.
This way you can have the extra slot in the weapon selection for another rifle.

IMO selecting beetween ironsights and scope is enough. How much soldiers really get to customize their weapon? They will just trow you rifle and thats it.

Customization always adds alot to the game in my opinion...but they wont do it, simply because its just too much work..

Aren't soldiers generally allowed to mount attachments to their rifles they bought with their money? Or sights at least.

Yep, thats how it works..

i think it'll be cool to like earn some point in-game and then spent them on your weapon or something...but thats just a thought...it would never happen..

Thank god it won't ever happen. This all "point earning to get shit on your rifle" belongs to arcade games.

To clarify,

As a PVT just getting to my unit i was handed a M249 SAW (i guess they liked me) so from there as far as attachments/sights went, it was whatever either they had or you bought yourself. My TL in Iraq rocked the M4 with a Leupold 4x scope, 20rnd magazine, crane style buttstock, and a bipod/vertgrip combo. So if you really want to customize your weapons out, you either buy your own or deal with what you got.

*EDIT* To agree with frost on the customization, NOT EVER on the "point" system.

In response to those who have negative feelings toward suppressors,

Suppressors do not make your weapon silent, though they do help confuse your enemy from the origin of the shots. Mostly, suppressors are used by Special Forces not because they are leet or want to be stealthy. The use of suppressors actually have a more practical reason. Since most SF fight in close quarters, clearing houses to search for weapons or targets, they can easily be disoriented by the loud sounds of their own, if not their teammate's weapons. Moreover, SF use cut down assault rifles in carbine configurations that sound many times louder than the same rifles with a longer, standard barrel length because there's less barrel for the powder to burn completely. The suppressors help to not disorient your teammates or yourself in close quarters, so you can still maintain a high rate of fire without worrying about bursting your eardrums. Shorter barrels also come with bigger muzzle flashes, and the suppressors also do a good job of minimizing flash as well as sound.

Suppressors ought to be on weapons where it is realistic for regular soldiers to equip them.

Also, this extra selection screen would be useful for many kits that involve too many weapons for a simple left and right click to work. For example the british marksman. The brits currently use the L86 and some Ar10 platform both for marksman roles. Why not have both in the game? same goes for the americans and an AR10 and the EBR.

Finally, all weapons should have the option to have optics on appropriate factions. Theres really no reason for this not to be implemented. You're not going to undervalue the LAt at all, no one grabs these kits for optics, ever, it's unrealistic, nor is the sight on the weapon powerful enough to change any balance, this update would make these easier, considering different HAT types and such

I think that allowing better weapon customization is very good idea, because now you can't eg. take G3 ironsight as MEC rifleman. I don't think that you should give too many options, but few variants of kits is very good idea.

I was also thinking about reworking spawn screen. In my opinion it should look like this:

Oficer: Can select sights/weapon and maybe color of smokes.
Sniper: Can select rifle and maybe color of smokes.
Rifleman: can select sights or weapon and choose additional equipment: standard(ammo bag), CQB(shotgun and grappling hook), AT(LAT), and AP(AP mines and AP rocket launcher).
So this kit will contain 4 current kits.
Support: Can select support weapon: AR, DMR, UGL and sights. This will contain 3 current kits.
Combat Engineer: Can select sights/weapon and set of explosives.
Medic: Can select sights/weapon.
Rocket Specialist: Can select sights/weapon and AT or AA rocket launcher. Will contain two current kits.

This way we will be able to choose all kits(except crewman, pilot and unarmed, which can be add to rifleman) at spawn screen. Requesting kits at crate should be like now. You don't need to change current kits, just allow to select it at respawn and add few more.

I was also thinking about limiting availability of kits, for example Everybody can use only kits from his section and rifleman kits, so this will prevent players who see tank to run to crate and quick request HAT, and also situation when one rifleman survive firefight, take medic kit and revive whole squad.

Too addition, you should place one building at main, which will allow changing specialization. When player enter this building he will die, but without ticket loose, counted death, and could spawn in 6 seconds. This will allow changing specialization without committing suisides.

To put to rest any more back and forth because of suppressors, and if they are used in combat, by who, if they are realistic, bla bla bla.

We got lots of Military Advisers that have real world experience. If/when we implement a more advanced system of weapon customization, then have no fear, we got it, if its realistic and feasible for gameplay, we'll get it in somehow.

Stealing my avatar Eh?

I kid.

But i really don't care what kits im given, id rather have the devs work on more maps, game modes, or more Assets or factions.
