I currently consider this the best server around for teamplay.

I think it is mostly down to the higher-than-average number of players who I consider to have the patience to engage in high level communication and teamwork, while remaining respectful and considerate of other players, be they veteran or FNG. Communication at times goes beyond the squad and may extend to a pair of infantry squads and an APC, reminiscent of prime-time Tactical Gamer at its peak.

4/5

Really glad you think that, Mongol. After all that was our main objective!

Could someone tell me at what time the server usually gets populated? I'd prefer if ya peeps could use GMT, just this once :*

I believe I am going to temporarily close admin applications until the core members make a decision with the current batch.

Hopefully that will help us get popped and admin'd properly.

As always thanks to everyone who helped seed yesterday evening. A handful of us OD-S guys tried to get the ball rolling earlier in the day around 3pm EST but it's hard to populate when you're up against 3-4 already full EU servers during their peak hours.

If you Europeans really want to help get this server started earlier we will need you guys to help seed with us.

Good games to all who where there.

Not all the euros will pop. Some are too busy making comments like this:

"The issue is there's no North American players joining! The server is there, it's populated, but people insist on joining half assed American based servers.
If we can get a transcontinental community going with players, admins, and servers in both North America and Europe that'd be awesome." That is on another thread. Search for it if you must.

Thats Commie and he speaks ONLY for himself. Such comments shouldn't be even taken note of. And for the record, he is Canadian.

I just find it hard to conform to US gaming times atm, I'm still doing alot of shifts at the hospital with alot of self learning, and I live in the same house as 2 other nursing students who do 12hr shifts so Its hard to game and not make any noise when they need to sleep.

But the times I've managed to get on this server have been great so far.

So that was the polite version? :D

What would be the normal equivalent of "half-assed?"

This is a serious philosophical question like asking if a glass is half empty or half full. Full assed? Half headed? Quite frankly I prefer to use both cheeks when I work with servers.

Which is why this whole project is taking longer than anyone expected. It is in fact very difficult to get both cheeks to work together.

I can't wait until later today.

I think I speak for all Euros when I say the server could be better located. Im guessing right now its either South or West coast USA from my ping, whereas the ye'olde TG server was located on the west coast. This meant that you got a pretty solid ping of 80-100 in western Europe and probably the same in East coast USA, which attracted players from both sides of the Atlantic.

Right now, I have a ping of 120, which is quite **** and I cant imagine how bad it must be form players in central - east Europe, or even beyond. The effect is Im not where my computer tells me where I am on the server. Its frustrating to run for cover, get around the corner and still be shot in the back. Dont get me started about CQB! It just means players like me cant be a point man or snipe and we have to lead targets by about double.

Yet my ping of 150 I used to have on TG has turned into a ~220 on CIA. It's not unplayable but annoying at times, or actually very often.

And yeh Mongol, 120 ping is nothing.

As long as you don't lag it's okay, and you have to accept the fact that you'll lose a lot of CQB.
