Strange Issue...

Post by [FH]Ravvie »

Hi guys

thanks for reading post, Just a question in regards to PR and my system, Recently been playing and noticed a issue that has bugged me regarding my ram, it used to be ok and for the life of me i cant work out why it now is running at 80% on my performance monitor, it used to run at 30% before, i have 4 gig OCZ DDR2 PC2-8500 REAPER HPC EDI so should be sufficient enough considering i play arma 2 on extreme high settings,

any ideas guys?

thanks in advance, oh and i have nothing running in bg apart from usual stuff, ive not changed my system at all apart from pb update and downgrading my catalyst suite due to black splotches on maps that get annoying.. which ill say are there sometimes still..

regards

What are your current settings in PR?

I play on mostly high/medium and PR itself can take maybe 2 or even more GB of RAM. When you add in mumble and background Windows, that should lead up to about 80% of your ram.

Anyways, other things you can try is making sure your page file is still on. Scan for viruses/spyware which might have installed background programs without your knowledge.

I don't know which performance monitor program you are using, but are you certain it is the PR.exe and BF2.exe programs that are allocating all of your RAM?

There are many programs out there to enhance your TaskManager and monitor perofrmance, I am partial to Process Explorer, officially a Microsoft product....

Process Explorer

Download, unzip, run from the directory you unzipped it in,
then fire up PR and alt-tab back to the ProcessExplorer window to see what is allocating all your RAM.

let us know, we'll be able to give a proper response to correct the error afterwards.

Possibly a memory leak, but it shouldn't cause any problems, use the tutorial in the link above, making sure to follow the directions for your particular OS, and you should be able to never feel the affects. It allows the BF2.exe process to use more than 2GB of memory... will reduce stutter and warping once the BF2.exe process does reach 2GB of RAM usage such as in your screencap above.
