Hey, when i play PR:BF2 on my laptop i usually can play one map with fps from 30-60, which is absolutley fine. But, eventually the map changes, and this time my fps drops slowly but sureley down to 15 fps and becomes unplayable in like 20mins.
-This does not seem to be dependant on graphics-settings, as the same thing happens no matter if i play everything on low and like 900*760-ish resolution or nice graphics,
-not the CPU or GPU temperature (55C tops),
-not the CPU or GPU workload (its not 100%),
-the GPU does not clock down,
-Im pretty sure the CPU also stays at its max freq,
-I have set the cpu and gpu to always work at its maximum no matter what happens with the power,
-i have the newest graphics drivers.
Sometimes i can play up to about 3 maps before the fps drops, sometimes just one map.
When the fps is dropped it doesnt matter if its silent eagle aas or kokan skirmish, (mapsize doesnt matter).
If the fps has dropped, i can restart the game and play flawlessly again on the same map and server.
When the fps has dropped, the RAM-usage may be around 3,3GB, if i restart and play the exact same map and server, it may be at 2,3GB. Therefore I think it has something to do with the RAM. Some things from the last played maps are maybe still loaded in the memory, and only becomes deleted if i close the game. But its still weird because max is 4GB, so i dont know if 3,3gb used should be a problem.
Can i manually unload memory in PR console?
I have heard about this 15fps problem on other forums in BF2 and i think the only thing i havent tried yet is turning off vertical sync, but i dont know if it even is on, if it helps, or how to turn it off/on. I downloaded a program that was supposed to be able to turn it off but it wouldnt start on my system.

Re: 15fps after a few games
This laptop has 5400 rpm hard drive and that might cause stuttering and fps drops. Other hardware is up to task but relatively slow hdd is whats killing it.
If you have room to install another hdd, get one of 7200 rpm and install your games on it. They will run a lot better I think.
Other than that, maybe using gamebooster might help, but I wouldn't have my hopes high much.

Re: 15fps after a few games
I have the same issue as the OP. It starts all good with high fps 60+, but after a while drops down to 15 and doesn't play nice at all. Restart the game and I get high fps once again, but same story after a while. It starts around 20 minutes or so, but depends on what goes on I think. Doesn't matter what graphic settings I use, doesn't matter what map. Clearing cache etc doesn't help anything.
I have the feeling there's a leak or something somewhere, that's causing our systems to drop fps.
I don't have this problem in FH2, I can play for hours and hours without having any issues. The amount of objects FH2 has in their maps is the same (if not more) as in PR, view distance is pretty high these days too, they're using high textures as well, etc, etc. They don't have 4km maps, but as I said, it doesn't matter what map I play, it always occurs.
Something's wrong in PR is what I believe, but I have no idea what it is.
My system:
Intel Core2Duo 2.2Ghz
4GB RAM
1TB HDD (7200rpm)
ATI HD 3870
Windows 7 64-bit
According to ATI CCC, the graphics card is really bored while playing PR (50% tops).
My cpu isn't the best, but I don't believe it's the problem, seeing as I can play with high fps and FH2 has no issues whatsoever.
HDD is always defragged.
Gamebooster and the likes don't help.

Re: 15fps after a few games
So its not hard drive either. Only thing that can be then is RAM leak, and that is not something tech support can help with.
Could it be PR.exe way of handling things and Win7? Or just BF2.exe not compatible with Win7?
If you launch FH2 you will see that its not launching BF2.exe and this might be solution for ram leaks if problem is with BF2 executable. Could of be food for thought for PR 1.0. Also the shaders solution for Fh2 seems quite better then one PR is using at the moment.
Take it to team discussion?

Re: 15fps after a few games
AMD 6970 2gb
AMD Phenom 2 x4 955 3.2ghz
8gb ram
7200 RPM HDD
and I get low fps too in BF2
R , I get 20 fps in some maps , usualy in the center of the biggest city or cities in general , in woodland I get 60 fps (i usualy lock my game at 60 fps "game.lockfps 60"), when I made a thread about this , smb suggested that the problem might be a memory leak , so yeah , if the problem is a memory leak caused by bf2.exe you should try fixing it guys , in PR 1.XX or 09.XX (next patch).I will install FH2 now and test it out , I will report back later .
Good luck and see you on the battlefield (Ideally before you see me)
EDIT :
Ok I installed fh 2 , tested 3 maps , played on a server and I can tell you guys that I never got below 80 fps , I used the game.lockfps command and locked my fps at 150 and got there too but FH2 is not for me so Im already scouting what servers are on for PR
