Change squad when dead.

Post by Himalde »

Can we be allowed to change squad when we are dead now please? Since both permanent rallies and SL spawn are removed, I dont see why we cant join and talk to the new SL before we have spawned on the "wrong" spawn point.

Not sure if I really get it...
You want to be able to "go down, leave squad, join another and then use their rally to spawn in again"?
Wow, worst idea ever.

No, that is not what he ment. If you've ever been a SL then you know how annoying it is to wait 10 minutes for someone that spawned in main and joined your squad. What he wants to do is to join the sq and ASK them where should he spawn.

I think it was implemented in BF2 to prevent obvious abuses. Isn't this a suggestion btw? :)

Is it hardcoded?

The main reason for this thread is it that is is very annoying when you disconnect from the server (supporting member kick and PB kick) and joins back get, or get teamswiched etc, you cant join your old squad and have to spawn at main/FOB.

But yes, if implemented; you can get killed and join another squad and use the rally point in that squad. I just don't see the problem with that. To use your new squads rally:
* The squad cant be full, you must be able to join
* They cant be close to even a single enemy to set the RP
* They cant have used the rally the last 5 minutes.

With those restrictions i don't think it will be abused. It will allow us to play more, and spend less time walking across the map after being teamswiched.

This is something that DICE changed in the 1.3 or 1.4 patch, to stop the squadleader switching (where if your SL died, he would rejoin the squad so everyone could respawn on the new SL who was still alive).

Which will most likely mean it's going to be hardcoded.

Either hard coded or not available as a code at all?! :P

This can still lead to abuse because if SL dies then he can rejoin squad and spawn on rally that the next guy drops.

Okay imagine this: Clanmatch - 2 guys get on flagcap, sets rally, 5 guys joins and spawns and leaves, 5 new guys does the same, and then 5 more. Now you have your entire team spawning in on a SQUAD rally point.
See where I'm going with this...?

But fillson, this is possible already. OC only at the very beginning when noone spawned yet but that is what it sounds like to me what you are describing.

If you mean mid combat with the already fallen people joining the 2 truck rushers behind enemy lines...then yeah, this is exactly why I stated what I stated in my first post in this thread. Terrible idea.

OP, now I understood your point but I am still against it as possible exploits outweigh the use:

- normally you only get teamswitched when/once you hit the "give up" button.
it is a pain in the *** but you already did sth. wrong before (you died)

- member kick...TG is gone, noone else does this.

This will result in a side track for PR, as the idea and concept of PR is to present high tactical, team oriented, war simulating game. Having people running around the map as a working spawn point is not an option for war simulating game (Hence APC's and HELO's in main bases, they are there to deploy infantry from the base, as in real life. And FOBS are there just to represent a as it is stated, Forward Operation Base).
Implementing the ability to rejoin and join other squads when dead will result in BTB (back to basics, aka Vanilla). And as from your point of view, clans that fights each other in this game are doing based on battleplans, tactics and strategy, deploying moving spawn points will just kill the concept of Project Reality. Don't take this personally but your idea is flawed here Fill, considering you didn't look at the facts - DEV team created an ability to be able to place a rally point for over 5 minutes unless it's gets overrun (use your knowledge and experience to place smart rallys that don't risk to be overrun easily), Rally points work as good spawn point closer to the front line compared to FOBs (if placed smart), CO Rally is designed especially to deploy a high amount of soldiers on the front line, as long as you have 6 men and 2 of the are SL's. By removing moving spawn points DEVs kind of balanced it out with current features in rallys.

Having that kind of feature in PR (moving spawn points) especially during clan wars (from my experience as SL/CO) this will turn PR from tactical / team oriented game play to Run&Gun.

In my opinion, this suggestion will not promote or will be any how productive for PR concept and game play :)

I think its a bad idea due to the reasons above. Don't know if it is possible and don't think it's worth looking into it.

I remember playing Oasis back in the days when dead guys could rejoin the squad, and when people could spawn on the the guy who was (at that second) a squad leader (PRMM 0.25?). For all you youngsters reality shooters, you do not miss that experience.

Would it be possible to implement as a '1 per player' sort of thing? Like for using to join a squad mid-round, or when you were (kicked, crashed, etc.), you can join the squad again, then spawn.

The suggestion and the idea in general is not well thought through and IMHO it will set a chain of reaction of bad things, or unbalance to the game play. I'm sceptic.

This was something you could do in the earlier versions of vanilla at least (as well as PR I think). It was used by competitive clans quite a lot; you would have pretty much everyone in a different squad and they would switch squads to spawn at certain places as soon as they went down. Squad-hopping was quite common really; and it could be used so that everyone left the squad, rejoined, and spawned on the survivor. It was later changed by DICE so that you could no longer join a squad while being dead or wounded.

Bringing it to PR would be detrimental to the overall gameplay as you could cap a flag with lots of losses, have those guys join another squad already on the next flag, and spawn in almost your entire team there in a matter of moments. It would be abused.
