Ok guys, quick question. Since I am probably not going to be the one making the texture for this (because I suck at photoshop and don't even have it, so no way to make any realy good textures
), I wanted to know if I should leave the "height cog" (whatever youd want to call it) as it is, or if I should actually go and make the grooves for the cog.
I didn't know if we'd want the actual detail of the cog in there or we will just model them in, I believe the FH2 model is just a half cylinder with a texture to make the illusion of have gooves in it.

Also, when you say goodluck, is it because of the way I'm modeling it or because its just a big model in general? I just want to know because if I need to be modeling it a different way to make it easier to texture I will XD

I sad that bequase the way you model...
It are a bunch of boxes slapd to gether as far i can tell. This will cause a lot of invissible mesh. Try to use the extrude and eeld options in 3d max. There pretty much the most powrfull out thfere

I dont know how long you model but i know that digital tutores has some great 3ds max tuts on game modeling

I'll have to check em out then, i have actually only been modeling since last quarter at school, and I havent actually gone through the class that is more specific for video game assets, since it doesnt start until winter quarter. At least I'll be learning lots as I go on this

I've been busy at work, but I'm going to be working on this more again this week I think if I have any spare time!
I've gone back and taken out some of the extra "box" items and instead have cut and extruded/beveled some sections such as the base above the legs and some areas on the cannon. I'm going back and redoing the guiding system just below the barrel which will also be the mount around the barrel. Will this make it easier for the 2d artist to make the textures for as Ice had said?
Keep the harsh feedback coming, only way I can get better!


(And now that I'm uploading I noticed the barrel may bee a little too big, I'll have to go back and edit it, just doesnt look right atm... :d uh

Although I personally believe its good practice to optimize as you go myself, means nothing is forgotten and its less of a "boring task" that needs to be done at the end of it all, like UVing for most people
