Players will return for 1.0

Post by Jamaican »

How do you know players will return for pr 1.0

If a player stops playing pr and going to pr website how will they know there is a new version out. What's the web traffic for site been like over past releases, is it getting less and less at each release?

Just asking as some people didn't even get to play pr Vietnam because by the time they heard or read it was released No one was playing any more, I only played 3 or 4 games of it myself as I only found out it was released by chance visit to the pr site when I was bored one day.

Well I got no answer to that. One of the problem is, is that some people complain while they are not even playing. I think the release might attract some new guys but we need more promotion for the mod.

I see no reason to keep playing the mod if no new game modes come out. I truthfully am not excited about the French faction, just like any other new faction.... just some slightly different skins and a few new vehicles which won't be radically different from any other in the game. PR:V failed because it really didn't introduce anything radically different and didn't live up to the teaser trailers they showed beforehand. It was quite literally just like normal PR AAS with new skins and different gun sounds without the cool tanks or aircraft. We need more teamwork oriented changes instead of aesthetic changes. Once you memorize the cache spawn locations, insurgency becomes a bore no matter how good the OPFOR team is and AAS is just running the same effective strategies over and over and over and over.

PR 1.0 is going to run something like this, "Cool! The French Leclerc now has a 50 cal coax!!! Great, it was fun for the 10 seconds I used it! Back to Fallujah West...."

I think if PR 1.0 releases this Winter a lot of people might return. Any time after that and the numbers are likely to be substantially less.

People will definitely be back, there's too much awesomeness coming.

How will they know? Facebook, Moddb, word of mouth on relevant gaming communities like TG etc etc; it'll be hard to avoid the news.

That's true, many ppl who are missing right now are in clans/communities. They got bored and play now other games or just enjoy the summer, but with 1.0 and the winter, they all come back. How I know this? This isnt the first update I witness and it's always like that.

Some guy connected to Xfire, his clan teamspeak, whatever, gets chatted/talked by another guy, saying "Hey new PR version out dude!". I've witnessed 0.9 and 0.95, and I can say that the number of players bumped MASSIVELY at each updates. PR 1.0 will be BIG, and so will the players bump.

I agree. :O Gameplay balance in existing imbalanced maps/problems + new gameplay is what should be the most important IMO. :)

It's not necessarily about new gamemodes, we don't have to entertain you with new gamemodes that eventually won't bring many new things to the table. You'll play it for 10 seconds and you go straight back to...... oh wait, same gameplay.

No, we take long looks at gameplay aspects and think about consequences if we move some pieces around. We're playing Chess, but we choose different strategies with each release. A different experience, sure, better as well hopefully, but it's still Chess. Or does that make it boring?

Vietnam "failed" because of the updater not working as intended, a lack of a Beta 2 installer and bad promotion of Beta 2. It didn't fail because it's the same as normal PR. What a ridiculous thought by the way.
What, in normal PR, you don't like the Brits because they're pretty much the same army as the Americans, just different weapons and vehicles? Load of bollocks, really. It's variety!

And AAS in Vietnam is fine, because of the lack of binocs and scoped weapons, it focuses much more on CQB. And hell, many players out there like that era better than present day conflicts.

Heck man, AAS in WW2 is the same as well then, right? Because that's also just a bunch of new skins, new weapons and new sounds, but still the same boring gameplay.

Give me a break. Instead of "complaining", bring something to the table, please.

I can see DEVs tweaking INS as they always do in each big release. As for other gamemodes, as I'm not too sure what people want. If you want new ones then the very least spit out your ideas in the Suggestions box. It has to born from somewhere (and this is really an incentive, no matter how ridiculous they might sound to you at first).

As for the topic, I'm pretty sure that a substantial nr of players will return for this new release.

I have to say, that however good for variety sake is new factions, especially when all of them are blufor, Seeing how the french forces are more popular than for example the Private millitary which would actually give the abillity of a new and interesting change, in the way we play the game, just as does PR:v or PR:n

The gameplay in PR is great. Its about the players and the community. The mod brings the right people togheter.
Xact Wicca is The Joker. That is all.

My VIP Escort suggestion thread.
I believe that instead of entertaining people for all of 10 min like a new faction, this can really bring new people to PR and KEEP them playing PR like insurgency did a while ago. And it does not take long to covert a map to VIP Escort.

Back in the America's Army 2 days, I played over 1000 hours of VIP mode on Hospital, Hospital2 and Extraction maps.

Oh gawd how I miss VIP escort maps in proper strategic TvT gameplay.

Would like to see objective-based gameplay for the conventional factions (eg blow up a Scud launcher instead of a weapons cache), possibly going both ways (eg both teams attack and defend rather than one attacking and one defending). Would also like to see insurgency gameplay where the insurgents have to destroy something for a change.

ArmA's Attack And Defend AAS variation would be kinda cool also, more for a change than anything else.
