Would you like to be email alerted to ending rounds?

Would you like to be email alerted to ending rounds?

As the tickets hit 10 or the last cache is destroyed or round is over, you get a text/email alert notifying you to get ready for the next round.

You would sign up and have various options for what servers, maps, and gametypes, and you can turn it on and off as you need it.

I think it would be a great way to fill up 100 player servers and increase the gameplay, would like to turn this into a formal suggestion but want to know if I'm alone on this idea or if anyone else would use this. It could be developed independent of the DEVs entirely so it doesn't even need to go to suggestions.

Yup, pretty much this. I don't see the point in it so to speak.

Well the short answer is no. I wouldn't.

What was your thinking behind this anyway?

Pretty smart, for the people that don't want to come in on a round that's already hafe way done, and want to start during the beginning of the round.

well maybe a ticket counter in the server name or something for us to keep track so we know when rounds are almost over...

Opps, when one round is about to end, some guys in a full server will disconnect, and those guys who are waiting outside will try to join in but only to find current round is ending and load the map for twice.

But it's not so bothering, isn't it? All of us can load the map within 2 mins, there'll left at least 1 min before next round start...

PR spy with someting to give you an idea of when the round will end would be nice - but what?

Tickets would be tricky, time elapsed would be no help.

Dunno - anyone?

tickets would be bad as players in game could the see the enemy ticket count, honestly, this idea is not needed. I see nothing wrong with joining a game while it's already going on. I think it's too much work for something so small.

Or simple its alerts you when the match has ended.

Simple. No need for Ticket counter.

I think showing the lowest ticket count, not necessarily saying what team it belongs to, might be a good idea, and for insurgency maps showing the number of caches destroyed?

But i do think with experience comes the ability to read the scores of the players on the server, if they have relatively low points then the round is <70% done most of the time but when there are 5 people on 1000+ points it usually means the round is coming to an end soon.

I would LOVE to see this. If a server I like is playing a map I dont like, Ill join another. It would be nice to have some kind of notification when the map I dont like is done on the other server. Also, with temp bans that end when the round is over, it would be helpful to let guys know when they may rejoin. Some rounds last for hours, so it might be nice to be able to go do something else for a while rather than constantly check back to see if the current round has finished.

as Stealthgato set: timer to PRSPY

EMail doesn't seem useful. Too slow.

A twitter feed, a RSS feed, an irc channel, a bitlbee server BitlBee - Home , all of those would instantaneously update the end of round status. That could be useful to people.

But at the moment with so few servers, I don't see the market for it.

No real use of this. We played without it for the past 5 years, we can wplay without it for the next 5 years really.

I think this is crucial to the success of larger servers having the same gameplay as smaller servers. I could explain my thought process but instead I'll just prove it.

So I'm going to try and get this set up with a simple round end notification. Going by tickets is impossible, maybe one day down the road something could be done with time but I'd like something simple and sweet right now.

Wether the notifications come via email, facebook, twiitter, doesn't matter. This is not something I'm asking the DEVs to do and this is not something for people who have been playing PR fine for years, this is for people who are not happy with the current system and the more I think about it, I'd be surprised if this doesn't already exist in some fashion.

Email notifications are only slow if you don't have direct push set up on your mobile or if your using a crappy ISP, otherwise emails are instant, facebook after all is just an email address too.

For those that love the idea, you are what I do this for, if only a few people use it then I'll consider it a success.
