I can hear others but others can't hear me

Post by wilko987 »

Using Mumble I can't speak to others, whether vanilla or PR version. I've been searching around and I haven't found much info. Drivers for Realtek HD sound card is up-to-date and I am using a Steelseries Siberia V2. I have started the program as admin + Win XP SP2/SP3, changed the audio input and outputs to whatever combination is possible and I still can't get it to work. I can hear others tho.

Here's a quick checklist to help troubleshoot:

Are you logging into windows with a windows user account with admin privileges?
Are you running PRMumble as Admin?
Are you running PRMumble before PR?
Are you running PR as Admin?

It is NOT necessary to run PRMumble in WinXP SP3 compatibility mode.

Can you record your voice using any other program?

I also use the Siberia v2,

Do you own the USB version? Did you install the USB drivers? SteelSeries - Downloads

are you using the volume control on the cord? Is the mic muted on the volume control box? Is the inline mic volume control broken?

I am an admin on my Windows 7 account, it's the only account too.
Yes, I run PRMumble as admin.
Yes, I run PRMumble before PR.
Haven't tried running PR as admin yet, I'll try it out.

I can hear myself when testing my voice in TS3.
No to the USB version.
The microphone is not muted, and I'm not really touching the volume control on the little box. It's not broken afaik.

(Thank you for helping though!)

Both PRMumble and PR must be run as admin for the two programs to be able to link.

In TS3, Go to Settings->Options->Capture . Look at the selected Capture Device.

Whatever device is listed is the same one you need to use for PRMumble.

In PRMumble, go to Configure->Settings->Audio Input and change the Input Device to the same device as you use on TS3.

TS3 said Default, so I chose "standardenhet" (Swedish for default device) on Mumble for both audio input and output but it still doesn't work. In the Mumble audio wizard the blue-green-red section shows my microphone as picking up my voice, but it doesn't "broadcast" my voice to other players or even me. I can't hear myself talk during the audio wizard.

Running PR as admin doesn't help.

(Thanks again for helping!)
