the PKM already has a scope for all intents and purposes, please actually play the game and use the weapon before making posts about it.

Real problem with PKM is recoil in undeployed mode.

A lot of this is going to become irrelevant once the Automatic Rifleman/Machinegunner distinction is made in 1.0.

yup, but im kind of curious what the result will be. Now, I feel as if the PKM and M249 are in pretty good equilibrium. However, the M240 ought to far better at longer ranges than the m249, correcT? So what of the PKM? will it simply be inferior to the m240, and the RPK74 outright inferior to the M249? That's probably a little imbalanced, though as it stands for the past what, 2 years? the MG3 has been 10x better than the M249, but no one's really cared, though now, that will be fixed next patch, so it's not worth mentioning.

RPK74's probably going to have some sort of stat that makes it arguably as good as the M249, I assume.
Will PKM be buffed?

Except that goes against realism because PKM is preferred to use in place of RPK; not along with RPK.

The RPKs will probably have a much faster reload than the M249s, semi and full-auto firemodes, and also might be a bit more controllable than the other LMGs.

The PKM and FN MAG/240 are probably going to handle fairly similarly IMO, although I'm curious about optics.

Apparently the Machinegunner class gets a pistol, by the way.

PKM definitiv not underpowered. Its a killer. You have to play mor static not running around aim and shoot.

I guess it's going to be much more difficult to shoulder fire now. I mean the MG3 was really good with iron sights up close, but it's so heavy and has such a long barrel, in real life, that should not be so.

Good luck to russians though, makarov is a 7 shot kill on body armour.

RPK better have faster reload because it only has 45 rounds, with same damage and less rate of fire...

It uses magazines rather than belts so it probably will.

EDIT: Nevermind, derped a little bit.

I also hope the PKM gets some sort of a buff; I imagine it will to better fall in line with other MMGs. I have a feeling I will much prefer the RPK-74 over other LMGs, for all things other than volume of fire suppression, for obvious reasons. I can only imagine the 1337 laser snipe accuracy of a deployed Ak-74 =D

I think I hit a guy 3-4 times before he started to shoot at me. I saw those smoke puffs hit his chest.

I killed him but it is really underpowered.

The only issue with using the puffs as your hit indicator is that just because you see someone get hit on your end, they don't always get hit on their end, so your hits are misses to them and the server.

I make bodies cold with the PKM. Three round burst will do it. Learning to control the undeployed recoil is a bit of an art, but keep at it and you will get the feel for it. I think I value surpressive fire in PR more than most Auto-Rifleman and am happy to opt for the ironsight version in most instances.

Don't see many problems with the PKM personally, everytime im blu for on ins its one of the weapons I fear the most. Played a round on fallujah tonight and got raped many times by a PKM in long distances. Not saying it doesn't have its issues but by INS at least it seems to be a perfered weapon over AK's in many circumstances. Got to count for something.

Disagreed. Last night I killed a marksman 650m far away with deployed pkm that had no scope :)
PKM is better than any other AR in this mod.

Ive recently have been playing with PKM again (did some greandier work meanwhile), and its a beast ofcourse. Even close-med engagements are win for me... single shot or 2 round burst is all what you need.
