The good old days when we were Blind
I remember when my whole squad would be digging and digging and defending and creating a wall in North City on Muttrah. Foxholes and HMG's and Tow's placed in such a way that no BTR or MTLB could attack with much hope of success. True teamwork.
Then came the Spy games with the eye in the sky (UAV) and then final blow was the Mortars. In Muttrah its not exactly wide open and other maps have their issues as well.
I wonder what other players think about the changes to gameplay since the UAV and Mortars are here to stay.

i wouldnt say that's a bad change myself. having an entire sector locked down in the way you mentioned was the easiest way to win, but surely not the only way.
Information in the hands of a critical thinker is invaluable, information alone is simply dangerous.

Re: The good old days when we were Blind
Honestly, I build giant FOBS all the time (on many maps, not just muttrah, but it is one of my favs!), and I rarely take prolonged mortar fire. Usually barrages only last 5 or 10 rounds, we rebuild, and we're good the rest of the game XD
I do like the UAV/ mortars personally though, and the really are only OP if the commander and mortar squads actually work together, which doesn't seem to happen too often anymore, at least on CIA where I play most of the time

the UAV has been in PR for how many years now?
Further, you're welcome to use your UAV to countermortar them, and finally, you have a 200m radius from your fob to build assets, your TOW, and mortars could be 400m apart, meaning a single barrage wouldnt get both at once

Neither are used every game as many players considering them both as boring. None the less its good to have them when someone is in the mood, I don't think they've made a huge change on gameplay.

Its not that effective on people who dont know what they are doing. And are rarely used by proficient people due to lack of communication on enemy locations.

well first of all you actually need someone to man the UAV, which isn't that common.

It changed more than it should because lots of people don't seem to realise foxholes will protect them

I would say not all maps must have UAV. I would like to see some maps with out it

This is what I was thinking. Then the Mortars on Muttrah would rely on eye sight intelaurimas wrote:I would say not all maps must have UAV. I would like to see some maps with out it![]()

Re: The good old days when we were Blind
as mentioned, if your team/squad knows what they are doing the changes should not have serious effects in gameplay
had a great round there last night. mec dominated the city and was very cool to see the whole team work together.

each squad was on the same page and it had been a long time since I had seen such domination.
that's what keeps me coming back to this game and although it doesn't show up in every round or map when this game is played the way it was meant to be, teamwork, it makes the game "fun" to play.
to all the HOG members I was part of the squad with last night at Muttrah, funeraldirector, naturalborn, eagleone, strudel, whiskeytango, great work!

Can someone explain this UAV thing? I know what it means, and I know in BF2 the commander has access to it, but here it's reading like if it's a static asset that anyone can jump on.
P.S I love doing mortars, I could a full round just dialling in coordinates, hit or miss I'm having fun.

Yea, only commander can utilize the UAV.Rapid12 wrote:Can someone explain this UAV thing? I know what it means, and I know in BF2 the commander has access to it, but here it's reading like if it's a static asset that anyone can jump on.

The UAV in PR acts as a vehicle that the commander moves around rather than making dots pop magically on the mapRapid12 wrote:Can someone explain this UAV thing? More precicely, the UAV flies in large circles at a very high altitude. The center point of the circle is chosen by the commander. The UAV can be relocated elsewhere after a while. The commander can view the map through the birdseye view from the UAV's current position, either in color or thermal vision.

UAV fixed when? It's a nice asset but it suffers hard from the problems related to the lazing and even more from the wonderful feature of making units and vehicles invisible right in front of your eyes. I can't remember this happening when the UAV was of the "moving" sort.

in theory, UAV's and mortars make for a more dynamic experience, closer to real life than the small-scoped engagements we had before. I think the inclusion of tactical support is a necessary step.

There is only one unforgivable lie That is the lie that says, This is the end, you are the conqueror, you have achieved it and now all that remains is to build walls higher and shelter behind them. Now, the lie says, the world is safe.? The Great Khan.

The UAV does have an irritating habit of making things disappear seemingly at random. I hope that's a bug that gets fixed for 1.0.

Re: The good old days when we were Blind
I don't mind the UAV, but the mortars in their current state suck. They should only be able to fire near a firemission marker, and the those markers should only be possible to place with line of sight on the target.
