Hokunin wrote:ATC would be very useful only in CO-OP servers where there are too many pilots flying and collisions are not a rare thing. For normal: player vs player maps, ATC is useless, since there are no more than 2 planes and pilots are in one squad talking to each other.

AA weapons would be usefull in maps like silent eagle where airstrips are a cap objective. But on other normal maps "mains" are usually forbidden to attack and are in dome of death area, so AA has no jobs.
This ATC feature is primary for the new Falkland mod, where there are more than 2 jets up at on time.
And afaik, the mains are free to engage.

Indeed, but also keeping in mind if the ATC system dose get rolled out to other maps, that the commander has many more jobs to be doing than just ATC, its just one extra job he can opt to do if he feels he wants to, to help fill the gaps of when he has nothing to do but stare at a map, watching his troops slowly move to their objectives :p

Also the domes of death can't stop a jet from attacking the main bases, especially when the new combat code comes out, the only thing stopping players from doing it right now is server admins and that's only on some servers.

Hope this'll get explained in due time

best part is that if there are only 4 guys in the server, it would still be pretty playable as a deathmatch

Well even the AAS mode is still playable by 4 or so guys just dulling it out in the air, what we often do in testing :D

Its a really, really good seeder map IMO as it works so well with only a few players ;)

rhino quick question, will the aircraft have to be below a certain height in order to cap the zones?

They are 500m up from off the ground so the lower you fly the easier they are to cap as the radius is one massive sphere, like any other flag in PR :)

Just the higher you fly the less time you will have in the radius is all really, to the point your totally out of the radius if your 2kms + above the ground.

Ahhhhh I assumed aircraft would have to stay in the zone or it bleeds back to neutral really quickly, thanks for clearing it up :)

Also, is the invincible really big enough for 24 harriers?

Flags stay capped as they are when you leave but they have a fast cap timer so if you don't "sit on them" then the enemy can very quickly cap them back. Might be a little whack a mole but hopefully will work out well :p

Nope :p

Can only really fit 7 Harriers and 2 choppers spawns on the deck, with not using the lifts and keeping an area open to reload in. From an ATC POV its going to be a nightmare, the real HMS Invincible can only hold 22 aircraft and that's including the hanger :p
But its safe to assume most Harriers wont be returning home anyways :p

hehe, while the USS Essex dose just about pass off as HMS Invincible, HMS Hermes is quite a different beast with its angled deck etc.

But ye, not worth adding a 2nd carrier just for a layer, it should be fine as it is with any luck, other than at the very start of the round not many people will get jets :p

How will the jet spawning work on the vehicle warfare layer? Will it be like AIX when one jet moves out of it's spawn area another is spawned instantly behind it until there are 24 out there?

Not quite instantly, 2min spawn time but ye, have a max spawn of 6 for most of the spawns, depending on the aircraft type
